Surprised at the lack of talk on the Depth Chart...

This is a Rutgers football forum, right? Couple quick notes from me:

Some unexpected walk-ons on the depth chart (Greg Jones, Marquez, Zane Campbell, Darnell Davis). But no Andre hunt who I believe earned a scholarship.

No Turay, Hicks (Goodwin over Hicks??), TJ Taylor, Jarius Adams (surprised to see Marfo above him already) or Myles Nash anywhere on the two deep.

Heeman above Denman at RT.

Matthews above Agudosi small surprise.

Darnell Davis and R'ondell Carter are our backup DE's (above Nash, Turay, and 5th year transfer Malachi Moore).

Hampton is the starting FS and Zane Campbell is the backup. Cioffi above Hester at SS (I thought Hampton and Hester were battling for a spot? Guess there was a position change). Surprised Hester isn't starting.

And that's forgetting the QB announcement. Any thoughts?

There a separate thread on the depth chart, also Rivals had an issue that may have slowed responses.

Saw the thread. Basically no talk on anything other than the QB's

I like Martin and Goodwin. I see this more as a Thunder/Lightning situation.

As opposed to Martin/Hicks which is like Thunder/Thunder.

Goodwin gives this offense, big play ability, and a guy that can take it the distance.

Suffice it to say, Goodwin is probably the best RB on the team in regards to catching the ball out of the backfield.

I kinda thought of Martin as the lightning and thought hicks would be the thunder.

They have been there for a day...what can you really take from the list?

I also like the Martin / Goodwin combo...Hicks is a very good back but does tend to put the ball on the ground...Martin is quick to the hole with that extra gear...Goodwin has added good muscle weight and besides being another good runner also catches the ball well out of the backfield...Davis played well in his limited time last season...Turay after having had shoulder repair is still working his way back...as long as he is good to go by our 2nd or 3rd game we should be happy...Moore just got here several weeks ago...he'll be fine...Heeman over Denman should not come as a surprise...he played a great deal near last seasons end...can become a beast at RT...some of these guys are very close to being moved up...Nash and T.J. Taylor on D ...Augodosi at WR will all contribute...It's day # 1 ...too much is still being evaluated...It's going to be an interesting year...can we win 5 -6 games?...most will say no because it's the PC thing...The team I saw in the video does look like a legit well conditioned B1G team...

What I take from it is that there are some motivational techniques at work here. Lets see how their play and work in camp results in who gets to keep their spots in the depth chart or earn their way in.

BTW.. Ash's recent after-practice media Q&A mentions how players have eared spots with their summer workouts and even Spring ball performance and even says that with pads and balls and such in preseason practices things can change.

Who should be surprised?

Just how long have you been waiting to post that picture?
He-man is actually much younger than I am... my youngest brother was 10 years younger and it was right in his wheel-house. But seeing the name it was a no-brainer.

"By the Power of Grayskull! "

You'd probably like what "he-man" makes me think of... Spanky...

But neither Martin nor Hicks gives the offense diversity. If their presence alone indicates a running play, then yes, that's a serious problem. Kudos to Coach Mehringer.

That's because we always brought in Goodwin for passing situations. No reason for for Martin of Hicks to tip the play.

I'm going to miss our fullback play. That was always a "Rutgers thing," but then again that's not really a good thing, is it?

Simply put, college defenses are not designed to stop Fullbacks and Tight Ends.

Our best team had a QB that couldn't throw a spiral, and we still almost pulled it off.

"Josh (Hicks) has a long way to go. He has to be more consistent".....

was the most interesting (telling?) thing I heard from CA's presser....
