Survive and Advance. 30 for 30

The remarkable thing about their run was the fact that the tournament actually started for them with the first game in the ACC tourney. They had to win out or go home. They also beat Virginia, who were probably the favorite to win it all that year, twice in those final weeks. Then in the very first game of the tournament their down like 7 to Santa Clara or Santa Barbara or Santa Ana somebody with 29 seconds left and win in overtime.

It seemed to me, college basketball was just a lot better back then. Probably due to the one and done.

Two very good 30 for 30's came out of that Houston - nc state game. If there was a shot clock Houston wins that game. But still a great upset and two tournament runs by the Wolfpack.

NC State's final three weeks of the 1983 season was simply astonishing. It included wins over: No. 1 (Houston), No. 2 (Virginia, twice), No. 5 (North Carolina) and No. 6 (UNLV).
