Tara Sullivan talks to Pikiell

There was the time Bannon finally got fired (a year too late) and then-AD Bob Mulcahy let available coach Jay Wright leave campus without a contract, opening the door for Wright’s national title winning tenure at Villanova.

Fail to see how a signature would have stopped Wright from coaching at THE Nova. He wouldn't be the first coach to leave without fulfilling a contract. No school wants a coach who would rather be somewhere else.

Patrick, Tara Sullivan has never let common sense get in the way of her agenda

You really think he would've left for Nova a week after signing a contract with Rutgers? That's the point. Not that he might not be tempted to leave a few years later if that was truly a job he coveted AND he was a desirable candidate because he was successful here. Maybe you're not aware of the timeline involved in the Bannon and Lappas firings.

The lengths that some of you guys go to try and rag on the local writers is pretty ridiculous sometimes. Jesus, this was a positive article for Christ's sake.

This is very interesting. Does anyone know the real story here. Literally, she is correct. But I don't every really remember thinking that he was close to a done deal. I always had the sense that he knew all along..or his agent did.

I believe he and Lappas shared the same agent

I think that's true bac. I think were around the same age. I remember hiring him being a distinct possibility, but never felt like it was in our control.

This is what I remember but don't have any inside knowledge. Mulcahey had Wright coming aboard. There were even some stories in the media about it. It was basically a done deal. Villanova got wind of it and fired Lappas and went after Wright. From what I remember, Wright's wife was a Villanova alum and former cheerleader. I vaguely remember an interview that he did on the radio at the time saying that he was all set to go to Rutgers if Villanova wasn't available. One of the benefits he said was that his kids would be growing up near their grandparents. It was another near miss for Rutgers but not Mulcahey's fault.

Ratface was let go in record time.

Great minds think alike! I tweeted this to Sarah at season's end:

"Pikiell sees that potential – he’s already talked to athletic director Pat Hobbs about pushing those student bleachers even closer to the court – "
