It does beg the question...why did Rescigno come to Rutgers, knowing that they run the Pro-style offense? Seems like he'd be a better fit elsewhere. Did he not have other offers?

And why did Rettig transfer here?

No offense intended to either player, just seems like there should have been other options for spread-style quarterbacks.

why did Rescigno come to Rutgers? at the time, there was urgency - bordering on desperation - on both sides
- Rutgers had a huge void in the needed QB prospect position - having lost Tyler Wiegers very late in the process - so they went hunting ...
- Rescigno had interesting credentials - but had only been able to put it all on display in his senior year & prime positions at high level schools were mostly taken - he was getting pitches from some schools to be a preferred walk-on (but behind the hot-shot recruits) with the possibility of a scholarship being dangled out in the future
- so Rutgers looked like a legit place to land (not ideal - but OK)

I am confident Ash will make better choices than our last TWO coaches,,we have always had QB problems
We actually have 4 decent choices right now.......player development is the key...Ash will figure it out

Rettig is a good fit for a pro style offense.

Rettig ran this style (Rutgers) of offense in HS. Rettig and Rescigno have more experience in the new spread offense than Laviano.
