Team looks to be much improved

Johnson has a very good handle. AND, Yes, he will be better against man where he can use his speed to get into the lane.
He's fun in the open court .guys will sag off him though. haven't seen him hit a jumper yet off the dribble I don't think.

I am surprised how "international" we are.
2 guys from Senegal...one by way of Florida
a surprise GOOD get from Toronto Canada where I spend my summers
Amsterdam by way of the Canary Islands
and something ive never seen..a kid from Lisbon Portugal...with a stopoff in Texas

Add 2 kids from my now home state of Florida(Sanders and Laurent)
and I am liking this teams mix,,,
I credit Pikiel for looking "far and wide"..........

Absolutely. Very cool the diversity we have on this team. The staff is recruiting where they want, and where the players are that they can get.

They definitely have more talent on the roster this season.
I'm not sure if it will translate into more B1G wins this season, but, they will be in more games and actually will be watchable.

There will be no big ten team that beats rutgers by more than 15 points. As long as we stay relatively healthy. Although it is not a great statement, we have not been able to say that for the past three years.

He hit one last night. Drexel is a very average team, but the sag did not happen. Johnson dished out 7 assist, and still got to the line drawing fouls.

This is a amazing point FIG. The more zone we see in OOC play the better for us when we play BIG. I did like the quick passes, going in and out of the post, to beat the zone movement. The repetitions can only help us. So, Drexel, play that 2-3 all game, we need the practice finding the open looks and improve FG %. Thiam has me excited. Its not just the 3 pt shooting but his high motor. Just don't want to jump the gun here but he could emerge to be a outstanding for us.

We did see a bunch of zone in the 2nd half vs. Drexel. Mostly man in 1st half.

Offense didn't do squat first three possessions vs that zone , took them too long. Then he put Williams in , assuming hoping would get corner looks.

I can't wait until we knock off a BIG team in a shocker...after getting our butts kicked last year and the BIG team expecting to roll over RU. I will relish that moment and as I see this team develop, I'm feeling more confident that day of reckoning is coming!!!

less than stellar long-range shooting by all except Mike Williams.

Still very early (and this should in no way be predictive), but we're getting some decent outside shooting so far:
Williams: 5-13
Thiam: 4-10
Laurent: 3-5

Johnson still hasn't found his shot at 1-7, but hopefully it's just a slow start.

Agreed. My post about Williams was after the first game but before yesterday. I agree that the early returns are somewhat promising. The team could really use at least one kid who can shoot near 40% from 3 on a consistent basis. Maybe that kid is Thiam in the future (probably not in his freshman year).

You are looking through scarlet colored glasses after two games vs terrible opponents. That was a ridiculous statement.

It is certainly very premature for such a statement. Let's take it one game at a time. RU has already matched its total for blowout victories last year (20+ points v. UMass-L and 16 pts. v. C.Conn.St.). A win on the road at BigEast cellar-dweller DePaul on Thurs. would be another step in the right direction, but let's save Big10 predictions until we see this team play at Miami and at Seton Hall. I'm sure there will be growing pains, despite the improved play we've seen so far against very weak competition. Having said that, it has been great to watch such a well-coached RU team after the last few years! If this staff can recruit, they will ultimately win.

We will see. It would not be the first time I was wrong. I just see potential in what the starting five has, and the bench presents. There is some versatility. 3 pt defense will be the big reason we see those kind of blowsouts if they happen.

The turnovers will come down. The fouls will lessen. Why?Well, our coach and his staff...they coach.

Seton hall will be so much fun to watch. If we are healthy and everyone is playable, and they are healthy, the game will be fought hard. I could make a prediction, but those are as good as nothing. It is still very early. I agree.
