Strengths? Weaknesses? OL? DL?
Strengths? Weaknesses? OL? DL?
I don't think Iowa will be in the top 25 when this game is played.Strength is that every position group looks better than the week before. Playing faster stronger and smarter all around. It may not be enough to threaten a top 25 team like Iowa quite yet, but I am loving what I've been observing.
None of what I said above applies to qb. Our starting qb is among the very worst in college football.
Pork rollStrengths? Weaknesses? OL? DL?
Yeah, that only took about 5 years to fix, at least we've got that going for us. To the OP, really we do nothing well except kick/punt returns. So really it's just one big Weakness overall. The R U chant is finally slowed down and working
You forgot to mention that we have problems getting going in the first quarter.Weakness - first quarter, quarterback play, first quarter, kick offs, first quarter, field goals longer than about 38 yards, first quarter, linebackers, first quarter, secondary and first quarter.
I seem to remember us having this problem in 2009 and 2010.OLINE: not agile enough. You can't coach that, you need to recruit it.

Strengths... scoreboard volume
Hope this is true! Will be there by 8am to find out
I suggest you go into victory formation and kneel down for three downs, then punt.... for the first quarter
Many outside of Midwest don't realize that NDSU is like a mid level b1g team that can play like an upper level team in 1 game scenarios. (I say that because they have fewer scholarships so less depth to get through an entire b1g slate)So tell us about Iowa. was NDSU that good, or do you guys have problems? How did they control the line of scrimmage against a top 10 B1G team like Iowa? Injuries. Weak spot in your D-Line? We need to know where the holes are.
Wadley (a NJ kid) had an uncharacteristically poor game yesterday. Was your OL getting killed too yesterday? Many outside of Midwest don't realize that NDSU is like a mid level b1g team that can play like an upper level team in 1 game scenarios. So, NDSU is definitely legit
Coming into season I thought the run game would be Iowas strength. Shockingly Iowa has struggled a bit with it and was embarrassed Saturday.
On D, there were concerns in a few spots but the run D has been Shockingly disappointing too. This is scary.
Why? I'm not sure. I do think our DE play has been poor and LB play on the edge has been horrible.
Very concerned going into conference play.
Wadley hardly got to play. He banged up a knee last week so guessing that's why.Wadley (a NJ kid) had an uncharacteristically poor game yesterday. Was your OL getting killed too yesterday?
Weakness-we have a vocal contingent of fans that like to whine a lot. Our crowd gets deflated and taken out of the game early. Our passing game has been very spotty. We take a while to get going and our first quarters have been lopsided in our opponents' favor. We give up a few explosive plays early on.

Team plays strong all four quarters and gets better as game goes on. Our running game and use of Janarion Grant has compensated for the passing to a degree. Our tackling is fairly decent, with some slips ups in spots. Our pass coverage is improving every game.
I don't want to give the impression that I think NDSU is a cupcake. I am full aware that they are a great team and can't be taken lightly. Sounds likes Iowa has a lot of warts too. Problem our biggest wart right now is the most important skill position on the team. Maybe it will be a low scoring defensive battle? 3-2? 5-3? [cheers]Wadley hardly got to play. Starting Center has been out last 2 weeks and RG got hurt last week and missed some time yesterday too. Not an excuse but certainly didn't help.
NDSU plays a very similar style to Iowa. Their goal is to eat up the clock and smash it down your throat. They pretty much did that in the second half and kept the ball away from Iowa. It really seemed like I would never had a chance to get on track and they didn't
Iowa has a history of making poor quarterbacks look like Cam Newton. So many times opposing qbs have had career days against Iowa despite no previous or later evidence of being capable. So don't despair....I don't want to give the impression that I think NDSU is a cupcake. I am full aware that they are a great team and can't be taken lightly. IT's irrelevant. The transitive theory fails most of the time anyway. Looking forward to a good game. They are good. Very good. You couldn't handle them either.
Dude, listen to me it doesn't matter if you leave a guy wide open by 10 yds., you put any semblance of pressure on our QB he will throw off his back foot and spike it into the ground at the receivers feet. And by semblance of pressure I'm mean your Dline simply has to get a push of maybe two or three yards and his mechanics go to hell..Iowa has a history of making poor quarterbacks look like Cam Newton.
