Texas A and M- can we do it?

Game is 3:30 pm. Same time as football game vs Mich State. Ugh. !

Think it’s on Tru TV

Would have loved 7pm slot for the game !

Buzz Williams coaches A&M and they have a terrific guard - Wade Taylor.

They’re ranked 20th in country and they have defeated Ohio State and Creighton to date and lost to Oregon.

CJ Wilcher - ex Nebraska player- plays for A&M.

Yeah, 3:30 pm sucks.

Is this a “money game” or is our payout the same regardless of winning or losing? Dylan and Ace knew they were playing to add to the bag last night.

Not sure if the 330 time slot was predetermined for this tournament?
But if they take into account the football schedule, Texas AM plays Texas in football at 730.

Ranked team, a few days off.
Dylan and now Ace will be confident, can’t explain to you the importance of confidence.

Dylan’s had a slow start last night and still was able to dominate.

A win against T AM will catapult this team into a legit top half of the B1G team… easy NCAA qualifier

Biggest issue with aTm is that they are FEROCIOUS on the glass, which is a terrible matchup for our rebounding-challenged team.

The Aggies are out-rebounding their opponents a whopping 45-32, and they have four absolute DAWGS who attack the boards relentlessly.

- 6-8, 250 Henry Coleman - averages 11.3 ppg and 7 rpg (4 OREB) in just 21 minutes

- 6-7, 220 Andersson Garcia - averages 6.1 ppg and 7 rpg in 25.6 minutes

- 6-9, 250 Pharrel Payne (yes, the Minnesota transfer) - averages 6 ppg and 5 rpg in 17.6 minutes

- 6-7, 220 Solomon Washington- averages 4.9 ppg and 6.3 rpg in 21.8 minutes

This is not even counting their top two scorers, 6-4 Zhuric Phelps and 6-0 Wade Taylor, who average 4.2 rpg and 4.0 rpg, respectively.

We are going to get DESTROYED on the boards unless Pike instills a game plan to sacrifice runouts for defensive rebounding. WE MUST DEDICATE OURSELVES TO TEAM REBOUNDING.

The good news is that aTm is not a good 3-pt shooting team. They are only averaging 31.4% from deep (53-169). So we will also have to sacrifice a little perimeter defense for crashing the defensive glass once a shot goes up, and just hope the Aggies don’t get too many second-chance kickouts and have an off night from deep.

well this is a pretty easy call on which game to watch

7th in the nation in rebounding but they are not exactly a great offensive team and they dont shoot free throws all that well.

RU is going to get killed on the boards..thats a given. We have strengths though. We have the 2 best shotmakers on the court and if we can force turnovers and extra possessions that will put us in position to win

Looks like the most physical team we have played

They blew a 10 point lead with under 10 minutes left vs Oregon and lost by 10...a 20 point swing outscored 32-12

3 point scoring more likely to improve than rebounding.

Not necessarily if Derkack and Williams are taking them.
Derkack and Williams are career 25% 3pt shooters.

ND they were 4-10.
Last night's 0-3 is more likely than a repeat of the ND game.

Football takes a ridiculous 4 hours for about 12 minutes of real action while basketball takes 2 hours for 40 minutes of action. I know which one I am watching and which one I am taping. It will actually be easy to watch the whole basketball game while recording the football game and after hoops ends switch over to the taped beginning of the football game and forward through it. You should catch up right about on time for the end of the football game.

0-3 is a lot worse than 25%. 25% from 3, rounded up or down to the nearest three-pointer, wins the game last night.

If they went 1-3 then we still lose (lost by 5).
Also, if they shot 25% on Tuesday night we lose (We won by 1).

The point is expecting 3pt shooting to get better with Williams and Derkack taking them isn't a good strategy.

Prediction:
Along with the best player in the country and Ace figuring it out.

We’re going to have appreciation threads all year long recognizing that 3rd guy who plays a vital role in wins.

A combination of J Wil, Dercack, Martini, Acuff and
Hayes…

I was talking about the team. Shooting 30% from 3 as a team would be 2 more 3 pointers. If Derkack and JWill shoot 25% from 3 and Dylan/Martini/Hayes or Ace make just 1 more we win.

I agree and I would put Ogbole in the mix, not as much for pure offense but the other elements he’s starting to bring, like rebounding, getting fouled and making his FTs, etc.

Down the stretch Alabama doubled Harper and left Derkack open to take a 3. I think other teams will do the same.
I think B1G coaches will force Dylan to pass and deny him til the cows come home. Will his teammates be able to get it back to him or will they take shots they shouldn’t?

He can’t be defended, he’s that good.
It’ll work for a while like last night, but as the game wears on and substitutions are made, he’s just going to dominate

Should I suppose one of their shooters will go 6/9 from three vs us?

I didn’t say defended. I said denied the ball. Focus on that will require his teammates to be excellent passers to get the ball back to him. My bet is JMike, Dercack etc take the shot they shouldn’t.

If we play like ww did last night and add some 3s and some rebounding we will be competetive.
Maybe the poster is being a little tongue-in-cheek here?

If not ... really ... WITHOUT much rebounding and awful 3-point shooting, against a BETTER team (Alabama being better than Texas A&M), RU was "competitive", as in nearly won the game (down 90-88 with the ball with 40 seconds left).

My plan exactly.

I worry after this topsu turvy week that we won’t be as motivated to play. How do we match up?
I’m hoping not. Texas A&M is a top 25 team. If we can’t be motivated to play them something’s wrong with our players and coaches.

We were basically tied with Houston at 1-1, but points tiebreaker went to Houston.
Time slot had nothing to do with A&M football..
Much better to play a ranked A&M for Q1 opportunity. Plus RU should have crowd advantage. If we faced SDSU, would clearly be an away game with their crowd “Air Raid” sound effects all game
Plus maybe not even a Q1

Which end will the Rutgers bench be for A&M game? Same end as they had first two games? Have tickets near the bench they had first two games.
