One of the things that jumps out to me after watching the film with some of these "under the radar" kids Ash/staff are going after, is the grit/determination, playing straight to the whistle and fighting for every yard. You see it in this kid Bailey's tape, the balance, the refusal to quit on the play, staying in bounds and fighting for that extra yard, looking to make a block to spring his teammate, etc. I saw the same thing with Idrizi's film too. They look like kids who enjoy competing.
Some of these kids may not have the ideal measurables, or maybe they run a 4.6 or 4.7 and not a 4.4, but to paraphrase Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday: they are going to fight for that inch.
