With their seven-figure donation to Rutgers athletics, longtime boosters Ron and Joanna Garutti are not only overhauling the weight room at the Hale Center training complex.

They are expressing $1.25 million worth of faith that the time is now for Rutgers with a gift earmarked toward accomplishing one of new football coach Chris Ash’s top priorities.

“It represents our vote of confidence in Pat Hobbs’ leadership of our athletic department and the vision he has for it, as well as our confidence in Chris Ash’s leadership of our football program,” Ron Garutti said.

“We absolutely hope that it will encourage others to give. Quite frankly, we know we need to change some attitudes around Rutgers and one of those relates to giving.”

Hopefully, this will spark a fire of larger gifts as well as smaller gifts. We have a long way to go. And the competition is stiff.

Multiple gifts of 10's of millions or more.

Folks make fun of BC, but they just announced $200 million of Upgrades that are ALREADY FUNDED.

Boston College has announced plans for $200 million in athletics facilities upgrades including a new field house and indoor practice facility that would bring its football facilities on par with other schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The upgrades, which will benefit both the intercollegiate and intramural programs, will also include a new general use recreation center and playing fields.

Athletic director Brad Bates announced the plans Monday.

The projects are the result of several years of fundraising. The indoor facility is being funded through private gifts.

These people are legends as far as I'm concerned. They really will be able to say they played a big part when we win the B1G.

This is why I am going to bump this thread. As a fan-base this thread should be five pages long. Gratitude is one of the most important values you can have in life.

Albany - might be worth noting they gave a 7-figure gift in the thread title, if you want people to post in the thread. I skipped over it several times, since I had no idea what you were posting about. Obviously, a great and generous gift and we need more alums/friends of RU to step up like that.
