Fortunately, only 2 resemble sure winners next week-Tulsa and Buffalo.

That will raise the number eligible for bowls at 6-6 at 73.For our purposes,Nebraska will finish ahead of us in the APR at 5-7 to make it 74.If Vanderbilt loses Tenn,we can't be caught by their superior APR as they will be 4-8.
There are 9 other teams playing next week at 5-6.I have 5 of them losing -Ky,Minn,SJST,Missouri,and Illinois-and 4 of them as a tossup-IND,E.CAR,ODU,and VA.TECH.

There is one 5-5 team,So.Alabama, who has to play Ga.Southern and App.St.

Then there are three 4-6 teams.LA LAFF-playing App.St. and Troy,Texas playing Tx.Tech and Baylor,and K-St with Kansas and WVU.

Hopefully,it'll be all over on Saturday.Sweating out Sun Belt games in December would be too much.

Of 13 teams,we need favorable results from 8 of them.We may just squeeze in.

The APR thing does not appear to be true. Not clear how teams will be picked. Don't hold your breath for RU if that happens.

And anyone sweating out a bowl bid this year, or gets mad if we don't go at 5-7, please don't.

Fortunately with a loss vs MD this will be a non-issue and Flood would likely be kicked out the door.

With one week left in the season we have 3 wins against FBS teams, one of which is 0-11. And there's still a chance this team could make a bowl. Could the bar to reach the postseason be any lower?
As I said elsewhere, the low bar has been the story of Fludd's head coaching career.

1) No team should go to post season play that can't play above .500 during the season. .500 teams should also be a no go.

2) Reduce the 40+growing bowl games back to manageable numbers. This sub-.500 problem is going to repeat itself in the coming seasons.

3) Unless you're in the BCS game or one of the major New Year's Day games, everything else has been reduced to a 13th game on the schedule to provide the sports networks with December football programming.

4) Can't find enough FBS teams to fill the Bowls.... go to the next division level and invite the best from there. Maybe they'll surprise folks.

The best teams from the next level will more than likely be playing in their own playoffs.

Source you make too much sense for the NCAA to adjust.

I see one can really learn something by reviewing past history. 5-7 doesn't cut it and o sm not sure if any of these games really make an profit. Each year we see a rotation among the lesser bowls. Some are moved, dropped or others added. Now if the money moguls of the NCAA and FCA as well as some college presidents would only underdstand this then there might not be games on Christmas Day or eve and perhaps even Dec 26.

It's time to give the game of college football back to the colleges and America. Traveling to places which are essentially off the radar screen and/or with little or no tourist attractions or value is meaningless. Forget the extra 2 weeks of practice. If people are thinking straight some days could be added in the spring or preseason or permit preseason scrimmages which was often done in the past.

Did a Rutgers fan really just say "Fortunately with a loss vs. MD?" Really?

Come on. I have no desire to go bowling at 5-7, but to tie fortunately with a Rutgers loss is a disgrace. An absolute total disgrace.

Anybody, anywhere, anytime, no matter how little I might like or enjoy the activity, wearing "Rutgers" on his or her clothing gets my support and hopes for victory. And if Flood's job depends on whether he finishes 4-8 or 5-7, this entire program has bigger problems than even any of us think it has.

Fortunately? Disgraceful

And while we're at it, the NCAA has no control over the playoff and very, very little control over the bowls, so people can stop blaming the NCAA for the abundance of bad games in December. The NCAA knows damn well if it didn't "certify" someone's bowl game it would be hauled into court on anti-trust violations and surely lose.

Save ripping the NCAA for the numerous other places it can apply.

If we reach a bowl, and Flood is still fired:

Agree somewhat. If I knew flood would be gone with a loss and would stay with a win then I would actually want a loss. Of course we don't know that so I will hope for a win and hope for KF to be fired. If they bowl, just get rid of KF and get the search going

Kansas 0-11 on their way to 0-12
IU 5-6 on their way to ???
Army 2-9 on their way to 2-12
Maryland 2-9 if we beat them 2-10

...but people here still are trying to figure out HOW we can make a bowl game. Disgraceful.
