Pikiell has done that with this group, which is a mini-miracle because they aren't his guys. He took a total fvcking train wreck and got us to being in almost every game with under five minutes left. So Step 1 has been accomplished.

Step 2 is the final three minutes of a game, and that requires a different mindset from the players themselves. They are gaining experience this season in that realm, and have a lot to draw from.

The first 35-37 minutes of a game are very different than the final 3-5 minutes. For a long time we haven't been in position to even learn how to close games out because we were down by so many. Things are changing, step by step.

Northwestern stole this win. Which is remarkable since they were at home and a double digit favorite. Pikiell is the real deal for sure. As you say, getting to competitiveness is the first step on program building.

how did they steal it. They did remain calm through chaos, stuck to their plan and hit some big shots late. I know RU played poorly down the stretch but give credit to Northwestern especially McIntosh.
