I respect your opinion and understand your frustration but I think you’re being very overly critical of Suriano’s decision.
You asked to look at it from Goodales perspective. Yes he’s in a tough spot, and I don’t envy that decision.
But now let’s look at it from Nick’s perspective. We know of his plans post-NCAA career. He has one year of eligibility and personally I think the NCAA has completely mismanaged the wrestling season already. You said the season is two weeks away, yet currently there’s no schedule available to the public and Goodale tweeted earlier that he has nothing yet. If you’re Suriano, do you wait around for the NCAA to figure things out? After seeing what transpired with Big 10 football, I honestly don’t blame Suriano for doing his own thing. I’d rather he do it in NJ but it’s his individual career at this point. Maybe if the NCAA wasn’t a disorganized mess, Suriano would take the season more seriously.
You make some good points but there appears to be one thing missing from Nicky and that's communication. We don't know the whole story. Only Goody and Nick do. I said it earlier, as long as Nick isnt jerking around Goody and RU around, I dont have a problem with it. His apparent lack of contact and communication with the coach leads me to believe I have a problem with this situation.

I've said it a million times I'm going to say it again ...great wrestler horrible personality. Plus that father of his. I am all for one doing what is best for oneself. However, you are still part of a team and a team which may have a once in a lifetime shot at gaining a trophy at the NCAAs as a team with Nick. Nick has always been nice to me in practice and at dual meets. I was there when he won the NCAAs as well as I have been to the last 40+ in a row. My beef is with common courtesy in communication with your coaches if you have a different agenda than being part of the RU team. Don’t let it leak out through Mineo that he won’t be part of the 2021 RU program. How do you think that “leaked” out. Reminds me of leaks that come out of all the idiots in both parties in Washington. That is the determining factor for me. If done right, I am 100% in your corner and hope you achieve your goals and dreams. If done wrong, I turn the page and move on which is the course I have chosen.

What’s the story behind how you got so close with the program? Don’t think I’ve heard it before. I know you’ve been involved forever but just curious how it started and how it’s been bridged between many ADs and coaches.
I was always a big wrestling fan since the 1950’s. My best friends were all wrestlers at Somerville and we were State Team Champs in 1959. At RU many of my fraternity brothers were wrestlers. Followed RU ever since. Always gave them $ and tried to help John S when he coached here.with another guy started the SKWC under John which was expanded under Goody. I was one of those 22 spectators that Goody talks about at his first match.. let’s is a very good friend and I have been on the Board since we started it. Maybe because I am Italian that is why they call me The Godfather of RU wrestling and have been to the last 40 + NCAA tourneys. I love the program and the kids in it. Whatever I can do to contribute to and advance the program I will do. I saw our first two NCAA champs and hope to see us raise a team trophy above our heads one day. Thanks for asking! It will at least help Goody & Donny workout a plan on the lower weight classes. At the same time Suriano has absolutely earn the right to comeback if he chooses too. The high possibility of him winning another NCAA title is just too enticing for RU. All of the discussion will become water under the bridge. I certainly hope he does comeback to give us a shot of the team trophy.

I too hope Nicky comes back but he has to let them know. He can’t call in March and say I want to wrestle in the Big Tems and NCAAs
