If we had played like this in the out of conference schedule, we'd have a better record.

Freeman out has really hurt us in OOC games, but especially today. IMO he would have been the difference especially down low on the defensive side of the ball.

A team like this can't afford to piss away those wins against SJU and Wake. Those games sucked the life out of the season for me.

Corey Sanders is really maturing. Playing as he is now we would have won St, John's and Wake Forest and maybe Monmouth.

AHHHHH THANK YOU! I was going to start a thread, however, you set me up perfectly:

There has been a very, very bad trend, since Eddie took over, and THIS is it! Either he doesn't bother coaching, against weaker teams, or has has no clue how to get his kids "up" to play against them, because we have played better, all-around basketball - for the most part - once the conference season begins.

Whatever the reason it's NOT a good one but it most surely is one that should have been rectified by now.

Or maybe our young players are finally getting it. It takes time for freshman to learn the offense and get a feel for your teammates. We had a chance in this game until Daniels decided to go 1 on 5 on 2 key possessions. you can coach all you want but players have to execute. We also got killed on the boards at the end due to injuries. Can't expect Greir to box out a center.

Sure, you can say this, but it doesn't matter.

Greg Lewis seems to play better in big play. Don't ask me why, because I am not Lewis, but last year he did the same thing. That might bode well going forward.

I'd like to see Sanders, Grier, Laurent, Foreman and Lewis a little more. 0-6 for williams doesn't impress me. He is a valuable piece though so I don't know. Grier was efficient today.

Williams is in a SERIOUS slump. All phases of the game. I addition, I agree with some other posters that have said this.......he looks out of shape.

Grier played very well....I just wish he had not tried to force the action so much on several drives to the basket. That is NOT a strong part of his game. You need to do it in the half court to keep the defense honest. But, not in transition when you don't have the numbers.

well the emergence of Grier changes things on this team because it makes the other team have someone else to defend. The question is this going to be something consistent with him...yes I know he wont hit 20 ppg but if he can give 12 points a game its going to be huge. I think this team had trouble adjusting without Freeman who was supposed to be the focal point of the offense.

But we didn't. You are what your record says you are.

agree with this...we can say that Corey got better but so do others teams. It is what it is. Chalk those losses up as learning experience, sometimes you have to lose in order to get better and win eventually

Williams is not out of shape physically. Seems to be fine there. Just in a slump.

I know what you are saying about Grier. Still though, he was very efficient today. Williams, very unefficient. His defense hasn't been as impressive as it was last year. I think for right now you have to run with Grier, and hopefully Williams finds his play and can come in as backup.

What a blessing Grier can be.

It was a good game but the turnovers killed us at the end. We must rebound consistently! I know we have major injuries but come on block someone out!

What is the deal with Grier?

He played great at times yesterday, and was laughable at others, but overall he was big shot in the arm for this team.

Why didn't he play more earlier in the season?
How could he come out of nowhere like he has the last 2 games?
(I know we had more healthy bodies earlier in the year, but still...)

Is it just more playing time?
Or is he gaining confidence, or just finding his role?

I don't understand how he could knock down so many 3s, but earlier in the season, NO ONE on the team was making 3s.
Sure seems like he could have / should have helped us more then.

Regardless, he will obviously be huge giving us a chance to win games going forward.
(Too bad this is his last year)

Yes rebounding. I wrote before when Indiana kid when to line with a minute left and missed the first foul shot. Said to fan next to me that Indiana will miss the foul shot and get rebound. Sure enough he missed and the Hoosiers got the rebound. Have seen that when Rice was the coach.

Kinda confused as well. All that matters is that he continues to make them now. Williams was playing better at the start of the season so he didn't make the lineup. Also, goode was making nifty passes and keeping possession.

Keep it up Grier.Good for you man.

Its not a surprise that our 2 best games of the year were the ones in which we found one guy who has some ability to shoot the 3 pointer. It makes a huge huge huge difference. Now we need about 3 more.
