THE OFFICIAL BIG 10 TOURNAMENT 2ND ROUND GAME PREDICTION THREAD: RUTGERS-INDIANA

Rutgers 61
Indiana 60

Sanders with the runner in the lane at the. BUZZER

See what I did ? :)

Well, I predicted we would beat Minny and we did. I think payback is a bitch, and Indiana's our bitch. I think we come out with major confidence and nothing to lose and win our second B1G tournament game.

Knights 65
Hoosiers 54

RU is on a roll. RU now has 9th best winning % in B1G tourney history 40% - which is better than Purdue, Indiana, PSU, Nebraska and Northwestern. Pikiell also has the 4th best winning percentage as a coach in B1G tourney history 67% - which is ahead of Izzo and Beilein

I got the pulse of our team wrong yesterday. I hope i am not 0-2.

Rutgers 65
Indiana 54

Inexplicable to see that crap effort against Illinois followed up with what we saw last night. This team defied expectations (good and bad) the entire season.

I also said yesterday that I had the feeling RU would win over Minnesota. I have the same feeling for tonight. The crowd was really electric and I think RU will have even more fans tonight. Hoping for the best.

We haven't played two good games in a row all year in the B1G. And Indiana is actually competent on offense, which you can't say about Minnesota. And yes, legs will be an issue tonight, especially with Geo still sluggish from the flu. We have struggled to score 60 lately (last night was the exception), and tonight will be no different.

IU 72
RU 59

Hope and pray I'm wrong.

IIRC last time we played:

- no Williams
- no Eugene
- Baker awful game from the floor (4/11 from the field, 0/2 from the line) maybe 1st game was feeling "flu" effects??)

...and we STILL held them to 65 points. This game can be tight, IMHO, and IF SO:

RU 61
IU 57

Including one game against Northwestern, the 65 points they scored in that game were their only wins scoring less than 70. Keeping IU under 70 is the road to victory.

Baker didn't have that awful of a game, I didn't think... 10 pts (4-11, 2-4, 0-2 FT), 2 rb, 2 blk. That was just over his conference average in points and rebounds, FG%, and 3P%.

Sanders, though, had more of an off night... 9 pts (1-11, 1-4, 6-8 FT), 6 rb, 2 ast, 1 stl, 1 tov

4 for 11 from the field and 0 for 2 from the line ISN'T a bad game?

His Indiana stat line: 32 min, 10 pts (.364 FG, .500 3P, .000 FT), 2 rb, 0 ast, 0 stl, 2 blk, 0 tov, 2 pf
His conference avg: 32.5 min, 9.4 pts (.322 FG, .342 3P, .741 FT), 1.6 rb, 1.7 ast, 0.8 stl, 0.5 blk, 1.5 tov, 1.9 pf

Indiana was pretty much right in line with conference expectation. Yes, he missed a couple FTs - but every player on the team missed at least 2 FTs that game.

And because we mentioned medians vs. averages the other day.... his season medians are 10 pts (4 made baskets, 1 three, 0 FTs), 2 rbs, 2 ast, 1 stl, 0 blk, 2 tov, 2 pf.

I never said “median stat lines,” you did, I said “awful game from the floor.” That’s all.

I know - maybe you missed the thread where median vs. average was discussed. Was just mentioning it as a different perspective on his performance.

I just don't think Indiana was in any way out of line with his season performance - not awful, not great, just average for him. He's shot worse than 4/11 more times than he's shot better than that. If he gave us the same tonight, it'd be better than what he's given us in the past 5 games.

While I do understand the difference I did miss the thread lol!

Didn't mean to imply you didn't!

We were talking a couple weeks ago about looking at expected performance rather than just a straight average, which might be impacted by extremely good/bad games. I also learned about Winsorizing, which was new to me but an interesting concept.

.... and you're never going to catch up to bac's post count by missing threads. :D
