THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-EASTERN MICHIGAN PREDICTION THREAD

I don’t know what to make of EMU. They were picked by a couple of publications to win the MAC, and are returning a bunch of players from a 22-win team I believe. However, they have not looked good this year. So, my pure guess is:

Rutgers 67
EMU 65

We shoot the way we did in the first two games we win easy. Shoot the way we did against SJU and we probably lose. Impossible to predict. So I will go with my heart. RU 80 and EMU 65.

A positive outcome of this game would be Rutgers scoring more than 70 points which will be a necessity in future B1G games to achieve any wins.

Rutgers 74-Eastern Michigan 69

I would be more worried if they beat St Johns. I think Pike will have their attention

I would agree & the fact that they did not play well in that lose should be fuel & motivation to get back on track. EMU plays a 2-3 zone which means we need to see that fluid ball movement we saw in Games 1 & 2. Get Myles or Eugene to the charity stripe and let them distribute or make a move ala Eugene's game last year against FSU.

Depends on how the game is officiated. RU gets a favorable home whistle it could be a 10 to 12 points win...if not look for RU to lose a heartbreaker by a point or 2. Prediction RU 78 to 66. Baker has a good shooting night and the Knights hit their free throws finally...

Interesting matchup. I've said countless times over the last decade " I don't understand why more teams don't play zone defense against us all game". And I still didn't get it. EMU is zone team. Interestingly we may finally be able to shoot over a zone for the 1st time in memory. So as long as we work the ball and get open shots we'll squeak it out

Rutgers basketball has changed. No longer is the variability of shooting 1 sided. Our poor shooting used to be a constant and the variable was our opponent's shooting. Now that our shooting isn't a constant (in a bad way) and we will take more 3s outcome of games have a bigger margin of error.

We aren't soft when we shoot 21% from 3 and we don't have heart when we shoot 56% from 3. The quality of shot on both end can be controlled, but no matter what there will always be a decent amount of open and lightly contested shots on both ends. The end result of the game has some randomness to it. SJU game no exception.

Being a Rutgers fan I kind of feel me in the DPWHITE camp. Quite frankly I have no idea whether ISSA will make either 0,1,2,3 or 4 of his 4 open 3 point shots. Will Eugene make 0,1,2 or 3 of his 3 open or lightly guarded looks. The difference between a blowout win or a loss could be decided right there.

Myles Johnson making a big rebound in traffic or a guard not going hard for a defensive rebound matter a lot, but our shooting and their shooting have much more importance in determining the outcome.

This point cannot be overstated, especially the bolded part. So much of basketball analysis can be boiled down to: Who hit their open shots? 90% of the rest is just noise.

Big game for this team. After getting punched in face by St John’s, it will be interesting to see how this team reacts... my money is on Pike and staff to prepare team for a major rebound

Expect another tough close game. No room for any hangover from Friday night. Will be interested to see what type of adjustments are made this evening.

Tough game, but we pull ahead in the second half and prevail by 10 points.

Rutgers shooting bounces back this game and combined with the size is too much for EMU

Every time this kills me. Every time.

Hard to believe that so many never saw the first half strangle hold on EM that led to the new NCAA record being set. [banana][banana][banana][banana]
