When Merrimack played Princeton, 30 of the 56 shots they took were 3 pointers. Knowing how tenacious and well coached Princeton usually plays, I doubt very many of them were open 3s. We will need to do a better job contesting 3s or we may find they do have a couple of big 3 point shooters.Looking at their stats far, looks like no big 3 shooters. 🙄
Hoping to see some real dominance and a 30ish point win.
They are almost dead last in the country for 3pt % through 3 games (23.9%). Their top guy Matt Becht has a career 36% rate at D1 level. When Merrimack played Princeton, 30 of the 56 shots they took were 3 pointers. Would love to see Merrimack stay cold from 3. Even if they get hot we should still win. But if they do get hot it will really raise concerns about our perimeter defense. They are almost dead last in the country for 3pt % through 3 games (23.9%). It sounds like the margin of victory will be a function of how each team performs from the perimeter. It will be interesting to see if we can get a big shooting night from Hayes, Martini, or Acuff. 3 pointers by committee also works.Merrimack is seriously terrible on offense, but they play exclusively zone defense, which will probably slow down the tempo of the game. So probably no 90+ point outburst here.
