THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-RIDER PREDICTION THREAD

We struggle again offensively but do enough to beat a veteran Rider team who will be fired up to play us...and is also is hopefully a little tired after playing in Ireland on Saturday

Rutgers 67
Rider 59

16 pt spread

Score will depend heavily on if Paul and/or Caleb play. Anyone have any info on this?

Shooting much better at home. Their talent level doesn't match our's even without Mulcahey and McConnell.
RU 78
Rider 60

Without Mulcahey and McConnell this one will be uncomfortably close - RU 67 - Rider 62.

With Caleb, as I don’t think anyone expects Paul to play:

Rutgers 69
Rider 58

Without Caleb:

Rutgers 65
Rider 63

Sluggish start. At the 8 minute mark it is a close game.

We have a 6 point half time lead.

We play better in the 2nd half and all of a sudden I look up at the scoreboard and somehow we are up 18.

We end up winning by 12 because we get a little sloppy.

Hopefully we get out and score 18 points in transition (aka fast break points)

RU 69
RU 57

I think we win this one even if both Caleb and Paul are out. But the margin of victory will be dependent on whether they play. Assuming both OUT:

Rutgers 72
Rider 59

It’s home so RU should win with both starters out. I’d say RU 68-62.

Three concerns versus Rider:
1. They like to shoot threes, gotta defend the arc.
2. They appear to be decent on offensive boards. Have to box out and not allow second chances.
3. They tend to foul a lot (lost to Providence by 1 pt by fouling 29 times and Prov missed 17 FTs). So we need to shoot well from the line.*

*They also turn the ball over quite a bit, but interestingly, because they tend to foul a lot, while holding their own on the offensive glass, even with all their turnovers they take more shots from the field than their opponents.

Rutgers wins, 77-68.

So happy to be wrong about this one. The new guys stepped up big time tonight after the Temple loss.

Funny how Patrick’s prediction was closest to the correct score. That Temple loss damaged the psyche of quite a number of you Rutgers fans. LOL!!!
