Some good discussion here.
Hard to believe, but the NC State game was only 7 days ago, not a couple of weeks as one of the posters thought.
In the Bahamas tournament, Stanford decided to allow the Badgers to try 2-pointers to their heart's content, but was not allowing kick-outs to the arc. UW hit their only 3 of the game with 30 seconds left and were 1-8 overall. Stanford was very offensively challenged, though, and UW won handily anyway - however, I think this was the most effective (non-Virginia) strategy employed against Wisconsin this year. In the next game, Oklahoma tried the opposite strategy of taking away points in the paint, and UW hit 14-22 from beyond the arc.
Trice is the best 3-point shooter, but not the only one. You've mentioned Davison, Pritzl, and King, but the second best might actually be Ford. He was hurt in the preseason, had surgery, and not expected back until mid-December. To everyone's surprise, he came back for spot duty in the Bahamas. He is not playing well defensively yet, but he was key to the victory over NC State with 4 made 3s.
Last, Wisconsin will bring Happ out to the arc to screen for Trice (especially late in the shot clock). Once Trice gets around it, Happ rolls to the post. Trice usually either has a shot at a 3, a drive, or a dump to Happ. How that is defended is key to any team's success.
