The Real NFL Scandal - Making the public pay for saluting vets

Nothing chaps my hide more than the hypocrisy of most corporations and legislators who constantly proclaim "Support our Troops." As a veteran and the spouse of an active military person, I can tell you that the atrocity that is the Veteran's health care system is just the tip of the iceberg. The health care provided to active duty members who require specialized care is even worse. The proclamations that call for support of the military are sound bytes with no substance behind them.
 
I don't think it's that big of a deal that these tributes are paid for by the military. They're basically paid ads. I'm sure the military has an advertising budget and they pay for ads on TV and print, too. I think the problem is that we've been lead to believe this is being done by the NFL on behalf of the military. That makes it look bad. And of course, the writer is trying to play up that angle to stir things up to get views.
