From the very first drive of the game - we win the toss so they’re going into the wind, we stop them 3-and-out, so we’re about to get the ball on the 50 yard line if not better. Greg decides to go all-out block and gives the 15 yard roughing penalty. What does the block gain you on the first drive of the game? When you’re about to get it in plus territory?
And it’s not just today. Every game it seems that we: blitz when we should be playing prevent, play prevent when we should be pressing, and on offense we cant find a play call from the 5 yard line, it’s either tush push or loft to the corner and pray Ian Strong makes a sportcenter catch .. we go for it when we should kick, etc etc.
AND on top of that the timeout usage is horrible. Has been worse the last 2 years than even under Ash. It’s like Greg takes the football 101 book and does the complete opposite. He has NO feel for the game, and any win we get is DESPITE his playcalling, rather than the coaching. This team had talent to have a special season, and Schiano just couldnt help himself in so many situations.
