I have been looking into this, I think there should be a large decibel meter in the RAC that fans can see. Maybe on one of the 4 pillars, or maybe at the bottom of the student section or at the top. Would be fun to see how high the number can hit and I think it would wind up intimidating teams over the long haul. Can't be that crazy expensive to add I would think. I think I would be willing to spear fundraising for it, I am that serious about it.

Great idea!!!

You gotta play to your strengths and the RAC and the noise level is something that needs to be capitalized on. They DO know this - pike cheering on the crowd, the “make some noise” graphics, etc but your idea would really point that out .

I like it

I don't think you could do a real one, but there should be something with levels to it. It. A real decibel meter might draw legitimate health and safety complaints, lol

You sadly may have a good point re: actual dB levels

But a graphic that simulates a noise meter (goes up with increased crowd noise) and instead of giving actual levels either represents the crowd noise by color or categories “loud” “louder” “crazy loud” could be fun and effective

Great idea! But NO piped in noise when measuring!

Is there where the goggles money is going? This is a great idea.
Man, the story about that was I was pestering the team all damn summer about getting approval to do the Goggles. Then the AD said, sorry RU marketing requires that we charge at least 5k for a promotion. I was like, F that I will have my student interns bring big boxes of Goggles and hand the things out for a game ourselves. I order like $2000 worth of Goggles to give out to the student section for a game later in the year and later that day I get a text about Gavin Griffin from someone at RU that basically says "the coaches like the idea but maybe in a year or two after Gavin gets acclimated" I knew right then the kid was overhyped and we were in trouble with him.

Immediately cancelled the order thank God lol

But yes I think this idea would be great

Always wondered how much louder the RAC would be if everyone recorded the noise on the phone, and have thousands of people yelling and play the sound on the phone.

Makes too much sense, thus will never happen at Rutgers.

Paladino's study was the most helpful. It's interest how loud the RAC is at the top of the 300s. In my notes I have putting this thing either on a ribbon board (where?) on each side of the scoreboard, or at the bottom of the student section. An alternate idea is to have it on the floor somewhere on the scorer's table and they can reference it on occasion when we are on defense.

I see no reason why it cannot have a game high rating, season high rating, all time etc. I think it would be cool and could attract attention to the arena in a positive manner.

Pretty sure I would fundraise for it if it's like like 100k but I have no idea.
