Let's talk some actual football . I expect a super bore fest today .
I think today's offensive game plan will be the usual super conservative crap with a couple shots downfield . A game plan to protect our qb . It may be good enough to woeful army .

i think you'll see a wide open offense based on the opponent.
Flood is scared to death playing against a decent defense.

I don't see how any Army DB can cover Carroo , if he is anywhere close to healthy. Carroo w 3 TDs today !

Looking forward to a lack of discipline and very poor execution from the team today. Coupled with an unimaginative game plan and a complete aversion to any in game adjustments. Should be a good game.

I agree, he could go the length of the field at any time, if he's up to speed…ARMY will have a difficult time tackling him

There is no way we can lose this game.

More interesting to me will be how effectively we defend the option.

Option week preparation is all about focus, discipline and reading your keys. If Army is gashing us consistently, it demonstrates that the turmoil surrounding Fludd has filtered down to the team.

One thing has remained consistent in the last 10-12 years. Other than the one Navy game at Navy, we always defend the option at a very high level.

No, I don't see us losing, just too many athletes on RU. Even Flood can't mess this up. But, it will be close. We win by 3 to 7 points...
Flood, will then state how they went 1-0 against a very formidable adversary. And, was very pleased how our kids fought to the end....Blah, blah, blah....

You better believe shots will be taken "down field"!! By Army, out of the triple-option, to their FB and TE. They'd be beyond stubborn not to do so against our awful, further depleted, secondary!

The formula for beating Army remains the same. Try to establish your physical dominance on offense by being able to run the ball and pass effectively when necessary due to your superior athletes. You try to get up on them early and take them out of their comfort zone on offense. Ideally you want to put in them in a position where they have to throw the ball regardless of the condition of our secondary. Army will sustain long drives and if we let them hang around and remain in the game in the fourth quarter we are asking for trouble as they will be the more motivated side at that point.

Talent gets trumped by lack of motivation. RU has nothing to play for. Throw in lack of discipline and this one smells like an Army upset.

This one feels like an 18-16 win for RU. Hideous game with conservative playcalling. I doubt Flood wants to show too much for Maryland..

You can't believe that?
Someone last week said we were vanilla for OSU and Michigan, so wouldn't show Nebraska anything....when does the delusion end?

Okey dokey

It would be pretty funny if Army came out with 4 WO's and the QB in a shotgun. Rutgers D would be totally confused.

Just saw the BTN preview comments for our game. The offense key was getting Carroo going again. On defense, the focus was on getting off blocks quickly to make the tackles in the running game. They did not suggest Army would throw it a lot today; they mentioned Army only threw it once against Penn State and might do that again today.

Right there you nailed it. Very few guys have played against a option O in college, on this D, and I think the few who have only in a single game. Add to it the fact that this D is far, far, far from being one which we should expected to be "focused, disciplined, and (able to) read keys," and this could be a long day of long drives IMHO.

Considering who our HC is nothing will shock me at this point. Not even a lost to Army.

If we had a good HC then the result of this game shouldn't ever be in doubt, but with Flood's lack of skills and leadership... Who the hell knows anymore?

Laviano just threw a poor pass which would have been a first down .

laviano can't even throw well out of a vanilla offense. what makes you think he can throw out of something more creative? He looks great at running for 1st downs, catching TDs and handing off. Why is he a passing QB again?

However we did suspend a starting Safety today so it will be a little more interesting on D.
