This can be the worst team in BIG history

You're so negative.

Time left in the season, and definitely extenuating circumstances... but we are certainly making a serious case for worst overall record ever. If FDU ends up being our best win, that's really bad no matter how you slice it. Until we beat Minnesota (or anyone else, really), we're looking up at them.

This season is basically a write off, at this point.

Both Minnesota and Rutgers are 6-16 right now. They have wins over: 57 Clemson, 114 Nebraska-Omaha, 165 Louisiana Monroe, 220 Missouri St, 261 UMKC, and 345 Chicago State. We have wins over: 272 FDU, 293 Howard, 309 Central Arkansas, 321 UMass-Lowell, 351 Central Connecticut State, and Div III Rutgers-Newark.

Their signature win this year is Clemson. Ours is FDU.

Season isn't over yet, but in comparisons at the bottom of the barrel, they look better than we do right now.

Bingo...facts...not to mention Minnesota has played a couple of NCAA teams from the Big 10 right down to the wire

But when you combine that with the quirk of the schedule in that we played ZERO of the bottom 5 teams in the league up until now, there were no games to be won with 4 healthy scholarship players

excuse me what game did we have only 4 healthy scholarship players. clue me in on that...and its not just the win/loss, its how the team has looked in those games and how the team looked in the non conference slate which was tragic at 6-7 and quite a few games with a full healthy roster

and 3-3 might not mean anything if the following year we start from square one again, I have seen the same thing happen with previous coaches and the following year the team started just as poorly and didn't build off of anything.. Get to 3-3 and then talk.
which 3 games are we winning?

Minnesota, Penn St and Illinois? Our we winning a road game somewhere? Not holding my breath

I'll be happy with one to break the streak - and it wont mean I changed my mind that we need a new coach

Thank God Eddie has a highly rated recruiting class coming in next year to fix these problems.

See, for me THAT is the bottom line. I could almost tolerate this season-from-hell if there was a light at the end of the tunnel. But the recruits for next season don't look very impressive...or very tall. And I don't expect very much from Doorson and Diallo next season...especially after taking a year off. Frankly I'd expect both of them to be competing for "most games fouled out of" next year.
Eddie has to go. And RU needs to bring in a coach who can recruit...period.

Sorry, I thought the sarcasm in my post was pretty obvious... Just trying to underscore how detailing cold hard facts and dealing in reality gets one labelled "negative" or worse around here these days.

Purdue....Both Sanders and Willams had the flu or something like that...Announcers said Willams shouldn't have played that game...

We have yet to hold a B1G team to under 1 point per possession. In B1G play teams average 1.25 points per possession against us. That is unheard of. 15 straight games dating back to last year. You just can't win with those numbers.

The 1.25 in conference play is the worst conference only number in all 351 teams in the 32 conferences. Only 2 other teams are worse than 1.2 Penn 1.204 and UT Rio Grande Valley 1.233

Really and this is shocking to you? WE HAVE NO BIGS to stop the post which allows easy baskets especially in the big ten. They also score on put backs which is because we have no bigs. This isn't a tough one to figure out.

Back to the OP's original question, this team with the players we have available now very well could be the worst Big Ten team ever. With a full roster of healthy players it might not even be the worst team in the Big Ten this year. I think with Sanders development and with Freeman developing as the year went on, and having two big bodies in Doorson and Diallo to use up fouls and guard the bigs on the other team, we could have finished ahead of Minnesota and possibly Illinois or Penn State.
