when is this board going to get rid of troll OP?
30 Days?
More than 30 days?
Excuse me? I'm a "troll" for posting a poll about today's attendance?
Let me guess...you're a Mets fan who can't handle the truth about their disappointing 2016 season. Am I right?

an OOC game vs an academically crapschool from the hinterlands of THE HINTERLANDS of USA and only a W or L matters,,,,,,wow ...low attendance??? what a mystery LOL

I blame the students more than anyone. I mean you have over 40K students who get free tickets and nothing else to do on a Saturday and can't even go support their football team for 3 hours. It's weak and it's been that way for the last maybe 5 years. I graduated in 08 and we actually supported the team. I had a big core group of friends during school so we had a 13 person group text to remind each other to request their tickets for the ticket lottery bc they used to go so fast. Homecoming two years ago was a disgrace with a ranked team in your building but no one in the student section, granted it was raining but it was more empty than it was today.

After completing pregame warmups, the team goes in front of student section to try to get them excited for the game. The problem is that there probably weren't more than 200 students there at 11:40 am.

Wonder if millennials are not that into football?

Way more than 25K there - that's just silly. I thought we had 35K, at the peak, so 39K distributed and 35K in the house sounds about right.

However, I did chuckle at the students, who had a big sign on a sheet, which said "10K Strong" which was close to accurate in the first half, but by the end of the game, we were joking that they should cross out the zero, as there couldn't have been more than 1K at the end.

Terrible job bv the students at the end of the game. Team went over to student section to sing the Alma Mater and there were 200 students.

They need some type of incentive or something to get these students in the seats which is sad but true. I remember when I was a freshman Schiano came and talked to every during freshman orientation and he really got everyone hyped and excited to come to the games and this was even before we became any good. I think Ash needs to do that moving forward. But they gotta get those kids in the stadium. Its gonna kill recruiting efforts.

They were in the stadium, close to 10K strong, like the sign said. Unfortunately, about half were gone by the 3Q and 90% were gone by late in the 4Q, despite the game still being in the balance. I just don't get leaving before we put it away.

How can anyone think there was anywhere near 10k students? That would require the student section to be full which it was clearly not as entire sections were almost empty.

It was not a good showing by fans all around -- stadium was about half full. No way the student section had 10k. Have not seen the stadium that empty in a long time - except against FCS teams.

When Rutgers is finally receiving a full B1G share and the much talked about subsidy goes away, they should reduce the number of student tickets by a third. Those corner sections are usually deserted.

I feel like I say this often. It do you people even watch college football? It's the same thing around the entire country minus a few programs. Heck, even Saban complained about students last year. Also, the idea the stadium was only half empty is beyond silly.

Anyone complaining about attendance in these threads should be required to include whether or not they attended the game.

As @vkj91 says, this is pretty normal for around the country. I think a lot of Rutgers fans watch Rutgers, and then watch the marquee games on Saturday night. If you watch misc conference games or other mid level games, its pretty much the same everywhere.
