Tom Luicci at it again

In 2013, Lloyd was inducted into the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni

deserves to be in HOF but it's not like they ignore her.

People give these media buffoons entirely too much power and importance...and they eat it up...

Smart to wait until she retires from active play before inducting her into the HOF. That way you make sure she can attend the event before announcing it.

He and his wife are Rutgers grads. Why the hate? I get that he's bitter for getting let go (wouldn't you be?). Things are looking up with Ash and co, so why don't we move on? It's annoying to see these posts on the board.

(BTW, part of why it's annoying is that his wife is a teacher at Old Bridge High, and I remember her being very nice).

MOVE ON, PEOPLE

That's a question better directed at Mr. Luicci.

Why would we induct Carli Lloyd before her playing career is over? I know she's technically eligible, but if you look back at the recent, younger inductees, most were inducted after they retired professionally.

2016 - Cappie Pondexter (eligible 2011, still playing)
2016 - Brian Leonard (eligible 2012, retired after 2014 season)
2015 - Gary Brackett (eligible 2008, retired after 2011 season)
2014 - Shaun O'Hara (eligible 2005, retired after 2010 season)
2013 - Tammy Sutton Brown (eligible 2006, retired after 2012 season)

When Carli Lloyd retires from soccer, I'm pretty sure she'll end up in the HOF. Cappie's actually the first player in a long time who was inducted while still playing professionally.

Something interesting while I was looking that up is that we didn't have a HOF from 2009-2012. Not one while Pernetti was AD... anyone know why?

Is what I want to know. The tweet seems sympathetic to Lloyd. So what's the problem w/it?
Because everyone knows that Lloyd will be entered into the Hall of Fame once her career is over. All these former players honored and what does Tom say? "Congratulations for the new Hall of Famers!" Nope. He says "Awwww to bad Lloyd didn't get in".
And he didn't even bother to check who got in. He only acknowledges Brian Leonard.

Where is the actual athletics hall of fame? They should make a big deal out of it. Maybe put it in a wing of one of the new facilities

I think Tom is just one of those people who is happiest being negative.

To illustrate:
You work very hard and get an A in a class. Tom would say "To bad you didn't get an A+, better luck next time". A normal person would say "You aced it!??? Wow good job".

Um exactly what did he do wrong

By evening mentioning Lloyd....

Tough break?

We all know she's going to get inducted in due time when her career ends. His tweet acts as though she got snubbed by the school. It was a shot at RU and was meant to entice people to get upset at the school and feel sympathetic for Lloyd.

This dude sounds like his butt is hurting real bad. There's a reason why most people didn't like him when he was at the SL. He's no different than most of the other journalists even with his RU degree.

Can't tell if we didn't admit anyone to the HOF from 2009-2012, or if the site simply lacks any of the updates from those years. Very odd, because I'm almost certain that a classmate was admitted in 2012, but he's not listed among the honorees alphabetically either.

She is a shoo in when she is retired. Still a lot of opportunities for her to add to her resume.

The " yet again" part is especially rich. The guy is a bona fide douche.

I wonder if the candidates for RU's HOF being involved with Rutgers University, even in a small way, helps when being considered for RU HOF membership.

Tom is a private citizen who is an alum like all of us...doesnt work for Rutgers or the media..why cant he have an opinion like the rest of us bozos

She may or may not get in. She rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Such butthurt for an alum having an opinion..what vitriol from rutgers fans

No it's Luicci that's butt hurt (nice job using my phrase that I used in my response to you earlier though).

Lloyd will be in the HOF once her career is over its not rocket science.

He's allowed to have an opinion but that doesn't mean he's not being a big baby. Might not think much of this tweet except it comes right after his others about selling all of his Rutgers memorabilia. Clearly he's upset the AD didn't need his services anymore after your girl Julie was given the boot. Let's be real, that was the only reason he was here in the first place.

If you know how Twitter works, you know he didn't just mention her name, he tagged her. Thus, placing his nonsense comment directly in front of her should she happen to glance at her Twitter page. It's an immature, weasely little thing to do and was definitely a deliberate troll job, despite what some of you might think.

I thought he was selling his stuff and "moving on"?

The guy is a serious drama queen. Just go away.

He's also retweeting PSU athletic tweets. He's got his best troll suit on right now.

TL was at Rutgers during those undefeated football and basketball seasons in 1976. I wonder if his whole career as a sports reporter is due largely to being hired as a Rutgers grad when Rutgers was hot in this state.

And then for decades Rutgers failed to live up his expectations, set when we had some stellar seasons... while he was working the college beat in a pro-sports market.

Soured then and is still sour.

Luicci was more than just a reporter, he was the Targum Sports Editor, the only 2 time editor . I don't get some alums, first you try to kill Luicci's RU rep, now Carli Lloyd. Who's next, Brian Leonard? Khas Greene?

Was it Bob Mulcahy who said "only in NJ, where they eat their own" ?

Yikes, some loyal sons.
