Tom Savage is in the game. He handed off for a TD but it was called back.

All that hope I had for Savage when he signed up with Rutgers. Ancient history.

All Rutgers feelings aside (positive or negative) Savage has had himself a nice preseason. I think he will hang around as back up for a long career.

I think the previous game he went something like 15-27 for 158yards..

except for some slight under-throws he looked really good again. Had he made those two passes a bit longer he would have had two long TD passes yesterday for another 100+ yards. Instead they were both P Interference calls.

Man he DOES have a live arm. What could have been, but you're dealing with 19 year olds.

6'4" 225lbs... solid. Love the eye black. Hated seeing College: Pittsburgh

oh well. what could have been is right.. (and not looking to start a Tom Savage 10.0 debate)

Still think if he had been here in 2012, that would have been a BCS bowl team.

Heck we were co-conference champs with a 9-4 record with some really bad Nova down the stretch and vs. Kent St.

And we're off with all of the ignorance and stupidity surround Tom Savage's tenure here at RU. Geeze, guys, he's pretty much come out and said he made mistakes and bad decisions while he was here. Just let it go.

When you let go of London Broil, this board will let go of the mistakes and bad decisions around TS.

But London Broil is god's gift of meat to us, isn't it?

And players and coaches who left Rutgers early are God's gift of the greatest players and coaches who ever played/coached for Rutgers?

I'm sure if there was a Roundtable with Greg, Flood, and Savage, they would all admit that they would do things differently. I recall the OL was pretty porous when Savage was QB. But what does that matter?

Kent State had no impact on our BCS bowl. Tim Wright catches a few well thrown balls and we win the conference. The whole team was outplayed versus Pitt, especially both lines.

Because he said the right things, and stayed professional, what was he suppose
to do? He got replaced by a guy who didn't have a single college offer,
this is after he was rookie all American. Plus he came in with no OL and Sanu
being the only one on the whole team that had caught a college pass. And was playing
all different position in the wild knight. GS had no clue, then he tried to stop him from
transferring to other div 1 schools.

Why be so hard on yourself?
Oh, good, we're down to little taunts from elementary school: "I am rubber, you are glue. Whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you." And I see Nighttime Bowel Movement joining you in your kiddie games.

Tom Savage made his own bed during spring camp of his freshman year and the summer leading up to summer camp before his sophomore season. It's not worth rehashing it as we've moved on to success and he's moved on to success.

1) coaches want to win and will put who they think can give them the best opportunity to win on the field, period

2) when a player reaches college stars don't matter, you compete for a spot like all other players - Burton, PJ, O'Hara all fit this mold and there will be more to come in the future.

What happened to the number 1 fullback in the country we signed a couple years back?

What happened to the number 1 player in NJ we signed a couple years back, did the coaches say he is a 4* and we have a walkon we have to let the rivals 4* player start because he is a 4*, lol

Whatever happened between TS frosh and soph seasons happened, it impacted his play. Dodd went out there and beat his competition and earned the starting role.

Have you ever thought TS is in the league because of his experiences at RU and nor the opposite. RU taught him a lesson and he learned from it.

Success in 2010 during Savage's soph year when he was benched for Chas Dodd before transferring to AZ ? The team went 4-8 (1-6) in the BE while running the Wildknight offense and then Schiano canned the OC. You should read the sports pages more carefully in the future.

In an interview:
Savage stated he made a mistake leaving Rutgers and he had a good relationship with Schiano even when he decided to transfer
Tom also said he felt he was entitled to things that he wasn't
The best point Savage made was saying the coach usually is the one blamed because people want to place the blame on them,
but Tom said in his case it was on him because he was a young kid and impatient.

I think those blaming Schiano for Tom Savage transferring are barking up the wrong tree and using their dislike of Schiano as an excuse to blame Greg for Savage's transfer.

Let's not forget his fatherly influence . Is it truth or folklore his old man got in a tussle in the stands ?

I blame schiano for losing savage but for starting Dodd over him. Should not have hired Kirk C(i also kind of blame flood for that too as he played a significant role in the hiring of Kirk and installation of that offense).

Two events sealed the deal with me on GS.

1. His total mismanagement of a BLUE CHIP DROP BACK QB by bringing in WHACKY SNAP OC

2. Getting his doors blown off on opening day against Cincy at home - The Defense were looking at each other like they never played football before and the offense looked at the sidelines while at the line of scrimage for the audible.

*As said on Sirius College FB radio all the time and again yesterday. Everyone jumped on Kelly's "look to the sideline for the audible," and stopped allowing a QB to manage the game. I guess when your $1,000,000 OC salary is on the line, you don't let a 20yrs kid make a decision. Sad.

When QBs were coached in practice and played on Saturdays. Oh have the times changed.
