ASU did us a solid last night and came back from 22 down to beat #22 Arizona and #20 Memphis went down as well. I could see Indiana getting in the top 25 with a win against Maryland today though. It seems though in general the out of town results were in RU's favor.

It will be close, in my opinion we deserve to still be in just looking at it from a stats perspective with the teams around us, but wouldn’t be surprised if we are left out in favor of some teams receiving votes

I seem to recall in the past that 2 teams have been tied for #25 ranking by the AP sportswriter’s poll. Can anyone confirm that this is possible? If so I could see both RU and Indy tied at 25 if Indy wins today. Otherwise I would put our two teams at 24 and 25, either way.

If we stayed in and swept the table this coming week, we would be positioned to stay in the Top 25 even with a loss in a week.

You know if the poll has any credibility...a team almost beating a ranked Illinois on the road and almost beating a ranked Iowa team on the road says to me either Rutgers stays or you over ranked Illinois and Iowa.

Said another way, if those two teams remain ranked Rutgers deserved their no. 24. Cause it was close and away games.

Three teams are coming out is the top 25...

Texas tech lost twice this week ...out
Memphis lost twice ...out

Arizona and Rutgers both lost...think our loss will be looked st better

LSU is in with one spot

Wichita state and Colorado (decoding on the poll) is in with the second spot

We just may hang in ...think it’s between us and Arizona for 25

Arizona doesn't deserve it. They lost last night to ASU and their overall record now is 13-6. I watched that entire game last night. Both Arizona teams play fast and out of control. And defense? What's defense? Both teams play lousy defense.

Seth Davis bumped us up to 20 this week. Will be interested to see how this shakes out

I saw some predictions at 25 saying we lost a close game on the road to a better ranked Iowa team.

The close game vs Nebraska at home hurts though.

Seth Davis has us in a good spot and Char Leistow from IA has us at 21

Based on what i see we stay, many people even pushed us up a spot or two.

A close loss to a top team in the division and another win. 14-0 at home. Nothing to snark at, either way im content. We are in a very good place and i think we come out guns blazing against purdue.

Close win or not, we should stay where we are. Last week proved that they got Iowa and us right at 19 & 24 so no rationale to change anything. To bump us there has to be a team on the outside looking in that is just playing so wildly good that they have to be ranked. That was us last week. I don’t see anyone. Status quo for us this week.

Going to the garden with a number next to our name would be huge. Its all about rebuilding the brand and perception so these kinda things matter from that regard. It doesn't truly matter in the results driven world, but college sports (and college system in general) is a perception driven world.

Also consider the video replay of Geo making that game winner, which voters would have seen.

Good teams have hiccups, the question is can you find a way to win anyway. Sportswriters know this and will vote accordingly.

Someone I talk with enough confirmed that probably 70% of the voters are not equipped enough to know the ins and outs of all of these teams and it will take something substantial for votes to be rerouted elsewhere.

I don't know if other voters communicate with other regional guys to reconfirm things or gather information etc.

I wouldn't place too much emphasis on where this ultimately lands but it would be a very good thing to have RU stay in the Top 25 this week and win Tuesdays matchup. I know ESPN is a bad word around here for historical reasons but we do have one ally there.

In the sports centers he has hosted, Zuban has been almost informative during highlights this week for the Iowa game and went through the last 3 shots of being down 6, to down 3 to tied to Baker's game winner on Sunday morning.

He could be the voice in the room that perhaps tells the RU story for the next month...the longer we stay ranked, the more relevant we break down the next barrier of coverage.

As a fan, I like being ranked. As someone most interested in seeing Rutgers continue to win, I'd rather drop out of the top 25, as I think that would feed the "chip on the shoulder" mindset this team has had and motivate them further to win on Tuesday against Purdue and Saturday against UM. As I said elsewhere though, I think we'll stay ranked.

the one advantage we have this week is the night we played Iowa was the only ranked vs ranked game in a night with very few games overall.

A bunch of voters probably saw at least part of the game. If they were tuned in with 1 min to go and a 1 pt game it only helps us.

I think we'll still be ranked this week. 1-1 and a close loss against a quality opponent won't hurt us. I agree that seeding in the tournament is more important than a ranking number, but the soft benefits of being ranked (more exposure on media outlets, etc.) is also helpful. It's good for Rutgers to come up in the conversation.

I know Zubin from when we were both at WRSU. Not only is he talented at what he does, but he's also a really good guy. He treated everyone with respect whether you were regularly calling games or doing production in the studio. I'm glad we have an ally in him there.
