Is there a reason you're 5-4? Oh, you're when against Bac with the PSU pick. :Laughing

My 4 losses:

Minnesota (took Purdue to double OT)
Ohio State (upset loss at home to Wisconsin)
Iowa (took Penn State to the wire in Philly... I admit I did not expect such a rowdy crowd)
Nebraska (I thought they had more of an ability to play up to their competition than it turned out they did)

If the bet was even $ what do you take.....

Both home teams win tonight VS Both home teams do NOT win tonight

I think I would take the later

would seem a no brainer right?

Bart says
65% chance Michigan (-3.2 bart spread) beats Purdue
80% chance MSU (-9.1 bart spread) beats Minny

LV says
Michigan -5
MSU -11

LV says
Purdue +210 (mid point of bid/ask)
Minny +750 (mid point of bid/ask)

I guess bart says 52% chance both home teams win
Las Vegas a bit higher.

It really is +600 for Minny and -900 for Michigan State. I think taking Minnesota would be very tempting. Something tells me that Minnesota is going to have a chance.

i think Purdue may have a better chance...desperate teams do desperate things and not a fan of how Michigan has looked in league play albeit in just 3 games. They lost to Illinois at home, were waxed by MSU and won a shootout vs Iowa

People overrated Ohio State early in the year.
I think people are overrating MSU right now.

There is a gap between MSU and everyone else. That gap isn't as big as people think. Paper is just paper and Izzo is a good coach, but on paper is MSU really that good?

Yes. Having the best player on the floor every night, especially when he is a point guard (Winston), is a big advantage. Tilman is also playing at an All-B1G level. I think they are very, very good.

Interesting that not a single person had Nebraska beating Iowa. the Huskers are a bit of an enigma - now with home wins over Purdue and Iowa. That certainly makes RU's shellacking of them in Lincoln look more impressive.

recap

Maryland 67 Ohio State 55
Rutgers 72 Penn State 61
Nebraska 76 Iowa 70

Indiana 66 Northwestern 62
Illinois 71 Wisconsin 70

Michigan 84 Purdue 78 2 OT
Michigan State 74 Minnesota 58

Just FYI, this isn't really the way to calculate the midpoint.

There is a lot of debate about the best ways to do it (there is generally more vig on the underdog than the favorite) but if you just use the simplest way of assuming equal margin,

+600 / -900 => implied prob 14.286% / 90%

total is 104.286%, so subtract 2.143% from each side and you have

Minny 12.143% / Purdue 87.857% which is equivalent to ~
Minny +723.5 / Purdue -723.5
