Tyreem Powell- Good Read

And you said you have no idea what he is getting paid or if there is any kind of contract …period
Are you suggesting he isn’t being paid?
I don’t know the amount and never heard of any players anywhere signing contracts from a collective.
If a kid is actually marketable and a company or business sees fit to pay him for services or use his name to market their company, I suppose they would sign a contract.

I’m not sure what it is you’re saying?

I stated get us 1 or 2 more wins and then he should get ready for the draft.

That sounds like you don’t want him to play in a bowl game.
I say he’s getting paid to play.
If we made the playoffs would you make the same comment?

I would hope he abides by any contract or promises he made. But I don’t know what he contracted or agreed too . I think that’s all anyone could expect , right ?

Let’s win, finish the season strong and get bowl eligible . That would be good for the program

I don’t care if he plays or not in a hypothetical bowl game (we haven’t yet qualified for one, making it hypothetical). But we have no clue what NIL contract(s) he has nor what they say about playing in bowl games, right? And those NIL contracts wouldn’t stipulate that the player play when injured either.

We don’t know what NIL contracts say about playing during the season…right?

You are the one that brought up payments and NIL in this thread, which now you admit you don’t know anything about.

Maybe just leave it at that a player should live up to whatever contract he executed ?

No, you said he should sit out the bowl and get ready for the draft.
I know everything there is to know about true NIL.

I am saying if he’s getting paid and has a contract or made promises , he should honor that.

Ok that is a fair take

Do you think winning these low level bowl games is actually important to schiano ? And to building the program ?

100%
The Miami win as diluted as it was with all the Miami opt outs did wonders for our off season…imo
Then if it’s so important to schiano and so important to the program …the contracts and deals the rutgers collective offers should not allow players to just opt out of bowl games.
That would be schiano and the collective screwing the pooch.

Sure, but I think we can win without him and I want him to do what’s best for his NFL career. Also, it would give our young RBs some more precious game reps, which helps for next season.

This is why I am thinking it will be the Detroit bowl . Crappy city, crappy bowl vs. a crappy crappy conference . Schiano’s backups should be able to win that game and he’s made a career of winning these type of bowls

What’s if it was playoff game?
Why should he risk his NFL future?

Agree.

There is a quid pro quo here---he got money to play in Rutgers football games, but the devil is in the details as to how many games and if he has an opt out to skip a game or games to prepare for the draft. But with that said, he is getting paid, and part of the "team." There is no "I" in team, but there is a "me" in team.

And if winning the crappy bowl games is very important to rutgers , schiano and the program it’s a bad job by the collective allowing opt outs . That needs to be prevented if it’s so important.

He’s a Linebacker
Oh. I was talking about KM who is a RB.

But my attitude about it is the same for any of our graduating players who wish to skip a bowl game to avoid risking injury prior to the NFL draft. I'm all for it if it's what they feel is best for them.

I don't think my entertainment is as high a priority as the well-being or academic/NFL future of our players.

I hate the surge in opt outs. How long before it becomes common for guys to announce in November they are not playing the rest of the regular season once they are out of the playoff picture so they can stay healthy for the draft?

I think the player should do what he and his family think is best for him. Always in every scenario.

It's not like the team won't do what's best for the team over the player in any scenario. So why shouldn't it work both ways?

Playoff games are a bit different than bowl games. But the players also know this and who is in a better position to weigh the value of participating in playoffs or championships or bowl games than the player and his family? I suspect most players will see playoff and championship games as the reward being worth the risk. Whereas many players will see playing some meaningless bowl game as not worth the risk.
