I'm going with: O lineman, D lineman, kicker, QB, RB. How'd I do?

What's your source?

Pat Hobbs. I didn't ask much about it but I was told that much. Apparently I'm the one one RU fan who didn't have a problem with the unis. The way he tells the story is pretty funny.

On a more important note RU athletics can't be in better hands. That guy gets it 100% and then some. Collectively we need to open our wallets. We do that, I'm convinced we will see success across the board like we ha e never imagined. He didn't take this job to keep the lights on.

Excellent. Thank you very much. I must agree, if we can get donors, Hobbs will have us in better situations everywhere

Still like the 00s Bucs look, considered by many to be a modern classic:

Slap on the Block "R" on the helmet, swap out the orange for grey and the warship for the knight's head (modernized, black, with a red ploom) and we're good to go.

Or I'd go with this:

We are getting the donors, but we need more. I'm not going to talk out of school, but we will see some more major gifts announced soon.

Yet we need more of them, along with non major gifts. Give what you can RU fans. With what we are up against competition wise, it's going to take a full team effort.

The import thing is we have a President who sees the value in athletics, and an AD and staff who are very passionate about taking care of our student athletes properly and just as passionate about winning big.

For the first time in our history, we have the right leadership in place. Much of it is up to us now.

I hope you're right. Because Rutgers athletics has amazing potential. When I tailgated with Brian Leonard last October, he told me Greg Schiano would never come back to Rutgers. He went on to say that because of the internal politics & different factions it's too difficult to win in NB in the current climate.

We might have a better coach than GS now. Time will tell.

And under our last AD I would agree with BL. But things changed. Drastically. We have a true leader in charge now with administration buy in. Unprecedented in our history.

Road uniform will be unveiled September 3. Home uniform will be unveiled September 10
I find it very strange that people are so concerned about the clothes that a sports team wears. What is the obsession? All I ask is that I'm able to see the numbers from my seat at the stadium.

I'm just very interested in uniform aesthetics. I'm a frequent reader of the UniWatch blog, and have a fondness for classic looks. From a graphic designer perspective, I enjoy seeing how things like logos, and uniforms come together. You have your opinion, I have mine

I am simply amazed - and thrilled - about your complete 180 on our president and how he views athletics. Good stuff Cali!

I think it's the fact that it is a visual representation of our passion as fans... It will be the new symbol that the country sees as Rutgers represent the university and the B1G on the playing field... And we all take pride in that representation...

Couple thoughts:

- Ash probably has a "uniform announcement" at the bottom of a list that is at the bottom of his lists

- Hobbs will likely include this announcement in a package with others (based on Cali's announcement that it's coming in a few days)

Uniforms and swag are important to recruits. It's marketing. That's why it should be important to us.

"uniforms" came in dead last - 10th or 12th IIRC - in a poll John took 3 years ago, of like 200 high school recruits, asking them to list what was important when making their college choice. It's not nearly as important as some of you guys think, to be honest, and the "marketing" part is all about $$$. Change unis every few years and Rutgers, along with Nike and all the stores that sell them, make more of it.

NUTS: To be fair, I think that applies when you're comparing a nice looking uni to another nice looking uni.

I think it's a fairly significant factor -- at least on a subliminal level -- if you're comparing a classy look to a clown suit.

For instance, while this car is a Ferrari, I'd pass it over for your average German luxury car.

Appearances matter...

Based on what I was told, it's well deserved. President Barchi simply got tired of the negativity surrounding the department. Athletics a very small piece of the overall University finances ($4B), but what people wanted to discuss more than anything, including the merger.

I give him a lot of credit. He made a mistake allowing those with an agenda the ability to commandeer the process. After recognizing the mistake and the ensuing mess that followed, he fixed in a huge way.

We couldn't have a better leader now than Pat Hobbs. If we get the donations up to par with our peer schools, Rutgers will athletics will be everything we dreamed of and then some.

The school and leadership is finally in place and doing their part. Can't stress it enough. Donate whatever you can people. It's no longer going down a rabbit hole. Some good news will be announced on this front, but we need more of it, and that is a forever thing.

I am not saying it is the end all be all. But there is no question it is a piece of the puzzle. Details. They matter at this level. All of them.

Uniforms are good for the fans (can't see the numbers), good for the school to sell more merch, and good for the players. I will take any legal edge, even if it is a small one. Recruits like it too, not sure if that will make anyone commit but as part of the overall package of the program as a whole, it might help (can't hurt?)

In this case, it is almost like a symbol of a fresh new start. I am looking forward to seeing them.

Does this mean we're finally going to get half decent chicken fingers at the stadium?

Hahah, I didn't ask about that. I don't eat them so it wasn't on my list of a million questions. I am guessing he has a few more pressing items at the moment. Though he was surprised how many people asked about the uniforms during his first days on the job. People are really into this.

Yea... Alabam's uniforms are magnificent. Better yet, Michighans which are a 100 years old.

This probably isn't a surprise, but we aren't Michigan or Alabama. Very few schools are. The amount of schools that don't change uniforms can be counted on one hand. And there is reason for that. Those uniforms are associated with winning.

As noted, even Michigan uses other uniforms from time to time, and actually has changed them, including adding neon yellow. So please don't use them as an argument against changing uniforms.

And ours are chanigng. It's a moot point anyway.

For the can't see numbers people, your problem has been solved.

That's not true. Michigan has worn several different alternate uniforms in the last couple years. They've all been poorly executed too, IMO.

Don't get me started on "un-retiring" numbers...

Addidas sucks. I really hope we don't go with them, but we might. It's going to be an open competition next summer. Regardless of who we go with, we are going to get paid. Personally, I hope it is Nike. If not, Under Armour. Addidas would by third choice. Their stuff is just ugly.

But if they pay the bills...

Gotcha...so Nike has us covered this year with the new uniforms (one more year left on our 5 year deal with them). And then next year we are opening up for bids on a brand new contract with everyone.... So I guess that could mean new tweaks to the uniforms again in 2017....

Adidas unis are horrible. Michigan switched back to Nike this year.

Michigan did make a pretty big uniform change last year. They switched from Maize to white pants.

Unless we sign with Nike again, yea. I really hope they come correct. Addidas stuff is just hideous. The lax teams they sponsor all wear really ill fitting ugly stuff. Their hoops stuff isn't much different. Under Armour stuff is pretty generic too at the Olympic sport level.

Nike is king. But whoever it is, is going to pay. The example that was given to me was Cal. They had the exact same deal we had with Nike. I believe it was $150K plus apparel, which is horrendous. They went to UA and are now getting I believe $3MM a year plus apparel and other perks.

Pat and staff are doing their due diligence. One of those companies is going to have to pay, not for what we were or are now, but for what we will become.

Hope we get something classic and clean. No doubt in my mind Ash goes simplicity in the jersey scheme. Very excited!
