I'm sure the staff has been there but I think Kentucky and Calipari are looming larger for Naz Reid, which with his improved play in recent weeks, may eliminate strong consideration for him staying local (St. Johns/RU impacted the most).
The reality is there is so much local talent at RC/Patrick/Linden/Blair, St Bens', St Anthony, St. Joes, Gill St Bernard and countless other schools that RU should improve it's talent base with some solid recruiting...RU can improve dramatically with the normal B1G recruit that we haven't gotten in recent years under Eddie Jordan or the end of the Rice era...
I don't think staking a claim that landing a 5* recruit is going to define the staff, we just can't carry players we have that are not capable of playing half-court basketball that requires an occasional jump shot or normal passing. The roster is so limited that with safe reliable recruiting the next two years, RU will improve quickly.
The 2nd tier Top 100-175 kids in the area (landing 2 or 3 a year), mixed with one bonafide Top 50-100 kid, takes RU to bubble status in 2-3 years....the key is what players can be brought in late this spring, there are still a lot of capable recruits being looked at, that can be added for 2017, once we see the expected attrition of a spot or two that happens each and every season at major programs.
As far as Linden vs Patrick, have to lean towards Patrick in the matchup...it would not shock me if Linden wins, but think Patrick wins a close one.
