UPDATE: Hartsfield to Ole Miss

I am 100% in favor of offering this kid! He paid his dues and suffered the consequences of his actions. It's time to give this kid a second chance! Honestly who cares what the media says if he learned from his mistakes and has matured as a man offer on the spot. He can help us win some games!
I agree 100 %. If the thought process is to hold a person accountable for their mistakes and then move on (Flood's suspension for example), RU should not be afraid to give the kid a shot. People who make mistakes, especially kids, deserve a shot to turn their life around, not the death penalty.

I think it would be in his best interest to go elsewhere. But if he disagrees I will happily take him.

Maybe you hey are full at his spot. I think our d backfield is a little thin.

Bac ,

No it's not . You're usually a voice of reason on this board . If hartsfield learned his lesson and more importantly play good football we should give him a chance

not a good move given the off field stuff we just went through, why go through the trouble, even Penn State didn't want him..if we could only go back to the see what posters were saying about Hartsfield a year ago

With what happened this season alarm bells should be going off everywhere.

I really do not like this at all. RU should not be second choice and second chance U.

We go through It because the on the field stuff is bad . We are staring a crap season in the face . At this level you have to take risks to win if you're Rutgers . We shouldn't operate a big time football program because we are afraid the star liar might write pissy article . Jeez

If PSU who offered him doesn't want him back after his case has been settled then why do we want him ?

So much downside offering this kid. Just because he wasn't found guilty doesn't make him a good kid.

Let him go to Temple or some other such program.

1. He picked PSU after growing up and living 10 minutes from campus
2. See above
3. Whatever he did wrong even PSU pulled his scholarship. Yes Pedd State pulled a scholarship. He was 18 and was a captain of his team.

No thanks.

Absolutely not. Not every "mistake" is equal. However the criminal justice system disposed of the case, moreso out of respect for the wishes of the victim than anything else, we all know what he did.

Myles Hartsfield, the football player, literally grows on trees. There are thousands of players as talented as him out there. And most of them deserve the opportunity to play for RU a hell of a lot more than someone who would make the sort of "mistake" that MH made.

I'm all for giving the kid a second chance. and for those of you POd that he chose PSU over us, well, we would take most of their recruits now if they decided to flip. So get off your moral majority high horses and let's bring him in IF he wants to come here. Someone said it may be best for him to go far away where no one really knows his story. That may be the case. Just like Yuri Wright did. If he wasn't convicted of a crime and ultimately we offer and he commits, then I'm fine with him coming here. Remember-we haven't offered yet. So don't jump the gun on judgement here. I know most of you do. You know who you are.

Oh..I thought after reading the Title he was visiting FOR OSU..Not visiting US during the OSU game... I know nothing here otherwise.

You guys make me laugh. We should be recruiting like our peers! We should be winning 9-10 games a year! We should be hosting Game Day! No reason for us not to have top 15 classes! I want most of NJ's top kids!
Oh, I also want high APR's, no off field issues, no baggage, and rainbows. There should be rainbows!
You guys need to decide what you want. We ain't Stanford the best of the best ain't coming here. Need to pick and choose some battles or be happy with 6,7, 8 wins a year.

We live in the 3* world. There are enough of them where we do not have to take the ones who have a penchant for making "mistakes" like accidentally raping their teammates in the locker room. Whoops!

I'm not saying we should take him but doesn't he still have some pretty nice offers? I'm cool with "doing it right" and winning 6,7, or 8 a year. My comment was more for the ever growing "we should be compete with the big boys but act like the ivies ". This place is becoming more delusional everyday. We had a thread this week applauding Narduzzi for keeping a PA 3 star wishing Flood could do the same. BTW, my menu tomorrow crushes what you liked at MSU. Someday I'll learn to post pics.

7 or 8 wins and the occasional magic carpet ride like 2006 would be pretty damn exciting in my book.

Anyway, that brisket sandwich was outrageous.
Agree but here that's underperforming. I made brisket as well as pulled pork, ribs, chili, and Burnt pork ends. Picture bite sized, crispy pieces of pork that have been smoked for 12 hours.

He deserves a second chance. Just not here. Recent events have caused me to really question the strength of the locker room along with many in leadership positions. 5 months ago, maybe. Definitely not now. Not enough upside for that sort of risk. All the same, I wish him the best. And my position has nothing to do with him picking PSU.

Just wondering , what year did you graduate from Rutgers?

Agreed. I absolutely hate this. Flood's recent track history of giving out second chances makes me nervous that they are considering offering him. The second chances given to Barnwell and Peele were a disaster. This could be another. Just stay away.

Rainbows but no rain.

we don't need a guy who allegedly did what he did, that's disgusting. Bad timing considering our coach has a trouble managing the bad apples this year. At other schools its less visible,. right now we don't need any more extra attention.

the thing is I agree with you..you cant have it both ways...that's why I never rallied around the good kid/making men, preparing them for life, high APR bull mantra. Its not about that, its about winning. But if this program is still going to rally around that mantra which it still does, then we should be taking a pass on this one
