"It's such an honor to receive this award and to share the stage today with so many other incredible student-athletes from New Jersey's college programs," Walkowiak said upon receiving the honor on Thursday. "I wouldn't be here without Rutgers and everything attending the school made possible. I am so grateful for the scholarship, the opportunity to compete and study, and the life lessons I've been able to take with me."
