down in dallas for the weekend and I was out last night with John Underwood. He unprovoked told me that we got a really good one in Steve Pikiell and that he is highly respected in the college basketball world. He thinks RU will dance in the near future.
I also naturally asked him about the Ash situation and he said, “look, I don’t know who your AD is but I can tell you from being in that position that no one wants to get embarrassed and have their name smeared. When your athletics programs arent winning it falls on you and hurts your resume, when your athletics programs are making the University look bad, then your job is on the line”. He didnt seem to know the politics of barchi and what not but he made it sound like, when you need money to avoid embarrassment, it’s there. Also very excited that the basketball world views Pikiell in such a positive light.
