Shu has size and shooters. Delgado is a beast and could be Top 15 pick in the draft, perhaps top 10. He looks like an nba player and we will have a very difficult time defending him. Maryland also has big players and they move the ball very well. Not sure how they get the open guy but it’s a very good offense.

We are going to have some challenging games this year. Geo is a great addition and Doucoure looks like he can develop. We need some more big men and some additional shooters. And the 3 point shot is essential these days as is free throw shooting.

We are getting Better but so is everyone else. We just can’t get discouraged as it might not really start to come together until 2019. I hope to play in the post season before then, but I’m not sure we have all the pieces yet.

Maryland is playing at a quicker pace this year...last year often kind of went through motions with sets before ball ultimately in Trimble's hand with 10 on the clock for a pick and roll.

Maryland was only beating an o-k Butler squad at home by 5 with a few to play. Just opened it up to 10. Indiana taken care of by Seton Hall. Northwestern down 10 at the half to Creighton. Doing ok - our best comparison? We did beat St. John's this season so. A wtf-win and then a 32-point and 56-point blowout. I think we'll be alright, gonna be lots of challenging games though yes.

Maryland won by 14, led by 13 at one point in the first half. They missed a bunch of FTs and had 20 turnovers, both uncharacteristic for them.

Their offense is much more versatile and their bigs were very effective. They'll be fun to watch

I choose to look at it this way:

- we get ECCC at home in front of, hopefully, a packed house with no more than 500 or so ECCC fans, so who knows!

- we get IU at home and they, apparently, suck!

- wasn't expecting to beat Maryland, at College Park, regardless

I was at the game----IU isn't very good----when you shoot 50 % from the floor and 33 % from 3 you aren't supposed to lose by double digits. They don't play defense a little bit.

I think SHU's bench is better than last year. Cale kid has a bright future----so does the Big from IMG.

Creighton beating NW doesn't shock me------think they will have an excellent team-----but that's a lot of points to give up for a team that usually defends well.

I was shocked at how inept IU has looked on defense in all 3 of their games so far.....on top of that, they were extremely careless with the ball, making bad turnovers on outlet passes etc....They defeated Howard Sunday night but NJ freshman guard RJ Cole (Georgetown wanted him to decommit and join the Hoyas last fall) went for at least 23 or so points against IU....

SHU is going to be tough because they have 4 players that are almost assured to get double figures every night, unless you play lights-out defense on one of their scorers.....Still not sure if they are going to be just good or really good without a true PG on the floor most minutes....right now they have Carrington at the point, which essentially guarantees him more shots and Powell, Rodriguez and Delgado are almost all going to get to at least 10PPG.

Maryland is better by subtraction of Trimble, the ball moves more and there is less standing and waiting for Trimble to generate offense. Justin Jackson is one of the best two way forwards in the B1G (along with Purdue's Vince Edwards, Lynch at Minny, MSU's forwards etc....)

Still wayyyy too early to evaluate these teams, there are a lot of freshmen that will get integrated into game plans and developed for the long season, so while Indiana doesn't guard anyone on defense right now, my guess is Archie Miller will eventually get them on track defensively.

Indiana has some very talented players but they have serious flaws including committing numerous unforced turnovers and silly fouls. They also are a terrible free throw shooting team.

Talent Rutgers has must be evaluated against league competition and out of conference foes like Seton Hall and Florida State.Only then can fans judge how far Rutgers still needs to go in building a winning program. The easy out of conference games give a false sense of security which was quickly dissipated last season when B1G games started.

Maybe but I think in Year 2 there's a ton more familiarity with the system for the players and the coaches know the players in game strengths and weaknesses at a higher level.

Right now they're not a good team. In seven more games we'll know what kind of squad Archie has.

St Johns..come on...they will not even a NCAA team this year. In watching these teams they all seem to possess outside shooting and multiple scorers options. RU is a very hard working defensive well coached team, RU will have to earn every big win the hard way. Without the outside shooting we are at a major disadvantage against some of these schools. Maryland looked solid in their win over Butler. Creighton edged out Northwestern in an pretty evenly matched game. Talent matters and we still have some sizable catching up to do

SHU is good and Angel Delgado is a great college player but you are totally wrong about the NBA. I would be flat out stunned if he were taken in the first round. He might not even get drafted. He has a great college skill set but is not what the NBA wants out of a four man. Zero ability to shoot, can't guard on the perimeter, will not be nearly as able inside to make up for it, either.

Again, not a knock on him or SHU. He is spectacular, but your assessment is not accurate.

Talent really matters in league competition and on road games.Rutgers really needs to improve in 3 point shooting and making foul shots. There will be games going down to the wire and players must step up and make the shot under pressure. The strength on defense must be matched with scoring runs on offense or the end result will be another losing season.Nobody knows right now how this team will perform in the B1G.

I’m no expert. I thought Melo Trimble was also an outstanding player so maybe I’m wrong again. It wouldn’t be the first time. But Delgado has an NBA body, very difficult to guard, doing a great job in rebounding and I would be surprised if he’s not first round pick. Sometimes players make big leaps from one year to the next and I think this could be the case with Delgado? What makes him even more dangerous is they have outside shooters as well so he could really benefit.

I’m sounding like a SHU fan and I’m about the furthest thing possible. The exact opposite. But I know when I see talented teams and this is one of them and Minnesota is another. Maryland is also going to be tough to beat.

I thought Getty’s did a decent job last year on Delgado but I don’t think we have an answer this year and I’m concerned Doucoure could be in early foul trouble. Sa can’t do it and not sure why Shaq didn’t play the last game? As I said, I’m very optimistic about the future of our program but we need more help; which I know is coming in the next two years.

Not sure he is a 1st round pick, but I'm wondering if Delgado could be a Charles Barkley-type NBA player, not saying HOF, but that style that can make a good living in the League.

Maybe if it was the 1980's or before. But with the influx of foreign players there are now 7 footers playing on the perimeter that he would not be able to defend.

But he is a college beast.

I really like SHU's team this year. They've got enough talent, experience, and depth that the sky is the limit for them IMO.

Delgado will IMO get drafted------can probably make big money overseas if he can't make an NBA team.

Such a long season and who knows what they'll look like in 8 weeks but for now SHU has the look of an NCAA team.

Thanks, I don't watch a lot of NBA games, much bigger fan of college hoops.

Or as Michael Jordan (UNC graduate) would say, "the ceiling,.. is the roof"

SHU is very good. Delgado is really tough. Almost every basket he scores is within 5 feet of the basket. He just backs people down. I think he will be a second round draft pick. I don't see him being a star in the NBA. He really doesn't show any outside shot. Charles Barkely had an outside shot. I don't know who on our team will guard Delgado. He will just bully his way to the basket. I thought Creighton looked very good but they play no defense. They are all about offense just running up & down the floor. The 11 o'clock news last night was going ga ga over St. John's. They rely so much on their guards. We did defeat them in an exhibition which was played like a real game. They only played 9 guys. I don't think they look like an NCAA team. We don't play Indiana until February 5. I think they will be much improved by that time. Last night they threw at least 4 passes long out of bounds that were not even close to a guy.

Delgado is a great rebounder and inside scorer but not a great athlete. He seems to have improved his vertical leap and his foul shooting this year. I see him getting drafted in the second round, but he will really have to fight hard to stay on an NBA roster.

Stole my thunder. Didn't watch SHOE but MD has a bunch of guys that are very capable 3 point shooters. As of right now we have 1 decent shooter, 1 who we are all hoping will springboard from the the other night, and that's pretty much it from the perimeter. I think Geo will a better shooter in the future but we can't hit the fast forward button.

Crean was a very overrated game coach who was a good recruiter. Miller's Dayton teams were on par with Indiana's teams with under-recruited players. Now that he's at Indiana, he'll have access to higher-caliber recruits and he already has a great class coming in. Indiana made the perfect choice in Miller. They'll be back soon.

I would agree. Doesn't mean he's not a fantastic college player and there is no shame in that, being an NBA player takes a LOT more than just being good at college basketball.

Maryland is good but Butler let them off the hook time and again, converting too few of MD's 20 turnovers into points. That game should have been much closer.

This, until we have 4 or 5 guys that can score and hit threes we aren't making the tournament.

The three point shot is so critical in college hoops. If you look at Michigan as example, they can all shoot the 3 and those extra points add up very quickly. If you get behind; it's very difficult to come back. You recruit blue collar players who work hard on defense but you also need shooters.
