Going to try real hard not to sound like a jerk but this is a legitimate question... What is keeping that uconn coach there? Tremendously tremendously successful, has he entertained offers? Does he just like winning? Does uconn drive dump trucks of money to his house?
For Women's College Basketball?

Definitely.

In 2013, UCONN gave Geno a new 5 year $11 Million contract that paid him $1.95 Million for 2013-2014...with the salary rising to $2.4 Million during the final year of his deal.

He has been at UCONN for 30 years....why leave and start all over?
exactly, why would you leave a dynasty you have built and get paid a lot of money? Did John Wooden leave UCLA?
But this is the part where im going to try to be PC, UCLA was at least big time men's college bball. As successful as Uconn is, it's still women's, which will never be as popular. Coaches at that level typically try to go after bigger and better opportunities, We all know that well enough, and I can't imagine power 5 men's programs or the nba hasn't come knocking. Not faulting him not jumping at the next big shot, in fact his loyalty is quite admirable, I just find it unusual.

By the way, for those wondering about the margin, here are some other UConn scores this season:

UConn 87 #1 seed South Carolina 62
UConn 83 #4 seed Duke 52
UConn 76 #1 seed Notre Dame 58 - @ Notre Dame

It has nothing to do with being "PC".

College Football will never be as popular as the NFL...but many top coaches have no desire to jump to the NFL (actually some made the mistake of jumping to the NFL, i.e. Saban, but rushed back to College Football).

Same can be said for Men's College Basketball...which will never be as popular as the NBA...yet many coaches want to stay in college basketball and won't jump to the NBA, even when they've had offers.

When one is the highest paid in a sport...at a program that he basically built...and has done so for 30 years...from a personal/family decision to a professional decision...many highly paid people are completely satisfied where they are.

Wow, geno makes twice as much as the Men's football coach at Rutgers, what does that tell you about Rutgers Athletic priorities? Need to up the ante on coaching salaries in Football and basketball ( men's) to be competitive in the B1G!

Jackass, he should get paid more than most men's basketball coaches. He wins national championships and they get a ton of fans at their games. The RU coach has done nothing to warrant that type of money. Go back to your own board where none of us are allowed to post.

You do realize that he also made more than PSU's last coach (who went on the the NFL) and PSU basketball coach as well. PSU needs to up its commitment to athletics or it will have more 6-6 seasons against the worlds weakest schedule.

I guess that you don't understand that CViv is the 3rd winningest WBB Coach in History, & that players attend RU to play for CViv, not to play for RU. Imagine if CVS was able to recruit her name & decent facilities the quality of players she would get. UConn's average margin of victory this season is 42 points, so tonite may be a long night, especially with Davis out, Holivay playing with a torn medial collateral ligament, & Copper falling out after the game on Saturday.
Wow, I guess you missed the sarcasm I was trying to make. No brainier,it always starts with the coach. That's why people saying we can't win without the upgrades don't get it. Sure it will help big time, but I see plenty of schools in the NCAA's and NIT that don't even have what Rutgers has right now!

no you don't...most of the midmajors have better facilities and more spent on basketball than RU

Please show me the "plenty of schools" that have been to the NCAA tournament 15 of the last 18 seasons (including 8 Sweet 16s). Those programs all have more support than ours does.

It's not that we can't win without upgrades. We have been winning without upgrades.

The question is, can we continue to win without upgraded facilities once our HOF coach retires and we hand the program off to someone without her clout?

First, I don't think the NIT is the goal.

Second, the teams that CVS (and, for that matter, Eddie Jordan) has to recruit against all have much, much better facilities.

Looks like Louisville(3) and ND(3-incl one from NJ) are cleaning up with HS all-americans. CT has two as does Maryland, Texas and NC. Not one going to Rutgers.
