Nervous that for the good will and momentum it goes out the door if we split this week. Can we handle prosperity is the next test...
I want this team to win the B1G tournament! This is a great day for Rutgers fans. But let’s not lose sight of the real prize.
We need to go dancing this year. And we’ve still got a lot of work to do.
Wrong. We're playing Iowa #19 on the road. As the #24 team we should theoretically lose that game and still be worthy of the #24 spot.
Wrong.
Agree with your last statement to a point. But if we win two winnable games this week it proves we can handle prosperity. Lack an egg in one or both games then...RU can easily split this week and fall out of the Top 25 next week and get through the next weekend and be back into the Top 25. the following week...there is no "good will" or "momentum", this is basketball, not football where you play one game a week.....this is already an extended run of success for the better part of over 6 weeks....how that is lost by some, is very strange.
Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin, Indiana (I believe) have been ranked at some point in the last few weeks....when you play in an elite league and tough venues on the road, it's going to be impossible to expect teams to stay locked into the Top 25, especially when it requires a winning streak and winning road games is very difficult this season..... There is nothing to be solved by doing anything else other than measuring things at the end of the regular season.
The goal remains the same....try and bring this roster of underclassmen along to be better in February 2020 than January 2020.....and have January be better than where it was in December of 2019....and the same for November of 2019 as well. The goal is to be healthy and improved in March 2020, not looking to prove anything this week.
Unfortunately, despite the improved perception, we are still Rutgers. As evidenced by the jokers who refused to rank us this week. The chance is there to do something extraordinary ... we won at Iowa last year. And then we will obviously be favored against Nebraska. There’s a short and long term game to be played here. We can win both.I don't know where you are watching games, but if you are following closely, home teams are favored in 90% of B1G games for a reason. Iowa is also ranked ahead of RU in the Top 25, how do you believe Vegas would expect RU to be favored against a higher ranked team to win, on the road........relax and enjoy the process, show some confidence in the long term process and stop acting as if this is the only drink of water you will get for the rest of the year....

Think about the words “short lived or not sustainable.” Remember Gary Waters beat a bunch of ranked teams and couldn’t get to the NCAA’s. I do believe we can continue. But if I’d bet money on it with a sweep this week. It's only relevant if you believe the success is short lived or not sustainable. I didn't think there would be enough credible voters who have seen RU live or been to Piscataway so, this winning has already taken place since unofficially the Wisconsin game.
My question is hasn't sustained success already happened since Wisconsin and Seton Hall....??
The fear was Lafayette, then not winning a road game, then not winning against a ranked opponent, then not winning back to back road games, then not being 4 -2 or 5-2 conference standings since XYZ date.
There have been at least 6 to 8 milestones for the program, seemingly microwaved for fans just not getting on board, in the last month or 2.
The process has already occured IMO. Talking about Iowa as if it's the start of the process, is just false. It's an extremely extended run of success.

It really is too bad about Illinois.
