We are the 2nd least experienced team in the B1G, 321st in the country

Youth plus totally new offense will lead to the sloppy play that we've seen. I'm encourage by the TO's though because the passer is generally trying to give a good luck to another player and both players seem to be on the same page. The receiver is ready for the pass.

This is important information, as some fans have said that we're NOT "young" since our starting five consists of a 5th year senior, two juniors, a redshirt sophomore, and a true sophomore.

What those fans are missing is the fact that our bench consists almost ENTIRELY of guys -- Myles Johnson, Ron Harper, Montez Mathis, Caleb McConnell, Shaq Carter, and Doucoure -- who are playing their very first games at the high-major level (with Doucoure being the exception).

So, yeah, we are very inexperienced.

Which will make next year even better as they get the experience this year to make the run next year. I think Mulcahy will immediately come in at the point and we can slide Geo to the 2 where he will excel. He hit 4 threes last game from 2 feet behind the three point line which were like layups. That will happen a lot more next year because in conference play they will take that away from him playing the point this year

Inexperienced and young aren't exactly the same. A lot of these guys are a year older than their grade bc of redshirts and transfers etc and players like Geo EO Thiam are more experienced than a typical player of their year due to a ton of early PT. We are young but still not AS young as the stats say.

The only guy who is playing this year who was red shirted was Myles Johnson. Doorson did because of his injury. Kiss was a transfer sit out.

The numbers above are based on seasons played - and Baker/Omoruyi/Thiam's experience is counterbalanced by the lack of live seasons from other players. Doorson also missed a ton of time and has only accumulated 1001 minutes over his 4+ seasons so far... by contrast, Baker and Kiss played more than that as true freshman.

Career minutes played to date:
1664 - Thiam
1190 - Omoruyi
1178 - Baker
1024 - Kiss
1001 - Doorson
462 - Doucoure
81 - Harper
75 - Johnson
65 - Mathis
29 - McConnell
11 - Carter

By contrast, a player who averaged 25 min/game for three full 32 game seasons would have 2400 minutes logged - only one of our players has more than half of that. This team is still getting its legs under it on the court, and next year we'll have a lot of players with significant experience. I'd think Thiam/Omoruyi/Baker/Kiss would all be over or close to 2K minutes, and Harper/Johnson/Mathis will all be pushing 1K.
