We should be ranked after this

Think we would have had to pick up at least one of the FSU/Minn/MSU to start receiving votes. I'm just happy we got the W.

Please stop

We have ONE High end season goal and it’s not the top 25

Is to be going to Madison square garden on smack on the bubble with a real chance to earn our way into the NCAAs with two confrence tournament wins ...

Yeah pump the breaks. May receive 1 vote at best. SHU should slide 22-25 range.

I don't see any way we will be Top 25 but we might get a vote in the Coaches poll. That is possible but not probable. We have a long way to go.

I like the way our schedule played out. Our cupcakes were extremely cupcakey, and with FSU, MSU, @Minny, SHU you cant say we haven’t been tested. We seem ready for the big boy games in conference to start.

if we were Indiana base on the schedule we would be ranked.
You are absolutely right. Some posters will never believe that, but perception plays a big role. I'm not saying Rutgers should get some votes, but put Indiana or Wisconsin in place of Rutgers and you probably will get some votes.

Win at Purdue? Not likely. Doucoure would have to become a beast overnight. Of course Souf might be dunking on everyone in a week too.

We played all but one game at home. Need to get big road win for any votes. Curious to see how we do now we hit a he road more often.

Not quite time yet. Great win over SHU. Next step is winning a big one on the road. No need to worry about rankings at this moment. We need to win a better percentage of Big 10 games. Anything over 6 conference wins in the regular season to me would be a success. Win the next two and 6 big 10 games and we finish with 18 wins.

Look what being ranked did for SHU. Let this team continue to grow and learn how to play together. If they deserve to be ranked, they will be. Way too soon right now.

IF they beat Purdue and win at Michigan State, they will be ranked. . . but then Pikiell would get a dozen high profile job offers the next day.

Not worth discussing. 1-3 against teams we're not embarrassed to have on our schedule.

Here's a good test: Whenever anyone thinks about posting something silly, insert the name of any other school and imagine what you would say if a fan of that school would agree with the statement under the same circumstances. How would you feel if a big-name school that always seems to get the benefit of the doubt had fans clamoring to be ranked after beating a rival at home, losing the only other meaningful games it played and beating an oven full of cupcakes? If ONE writer votes Rutgers in the Top 25, he should have his voting privileges taken away. When we've earned it, we'll know.

I hate to be mean, but the cluelessness and lack of perspective on these boards is often remarkable.

RU SOS is 155 including the two conference games....252 for non conference right now

After the SHU game I believe RU went from #92 to #86 in Sagarin. Maybe of RU had beaten a Top 5 maybe a vote or two but not just because of a win over the #15 team. As you said the SOS does not support it.

This is not a year you worry about being ranked..this is a year to hope we finish with a winning record.

What have the NIT teams been ranked by RPI's in recent years to get a bid? Way, way, down the road, but still it's worth dreaming about at the moment.

Don’t care what anybody says. All of our losses were close for most of the game...after tonight I want #25 or at least “receiving votes”.
Great win, but I think if we had beaten FSU we may---may get a few "receiving votes." But overall as a team, we're not there yet.

No way should RU be ranked. But the rankings are always based more on reputation, preseason hype and potential this time of year, rather than actual performance on the court. Teams like Duke can over come bad losses to teams like BC and somehow remain in the top 3! Arizona is somehow still ranked No. 18 with 3 losses, including two to unranked NC State and SMU. A two-loss Creighton team is ranked despite losing to the only two currently ranked teams they played because Creighton has beaten Northwestern and Wisconsin, both of whom are down this year. And the list goes on . . . . . . .

Arizona and Sean Miller are the most amazing example of this. Treated like a blue-blood but not even close to being worthy.
