Weather for MSU @ RU: mild and dry - football weather

Speaking of jinxes, I think we might have the makings of a reverse jinx for this game. Since #s isn't going to be at this game, which is as rare a thing as it is totally lame on his part, and since he's suffered along with the RU FB program for so many decades that he'd need to dust off his trusty abacus to add them all up, and since it would practically kill him to miss out on the biggest upset ever, it's an almost sure thing that we will beat MSU this Saturday.

However, it's also almost a sure thing that we'll have powerful thunderstorms w/a tornado or two during the tailgate and game.

You heard it here first.

Last non-1AA home game I missed was WSU earlier this year and we lost - last one I missed before that was our home loss to Pitt in 2009. See any pattern here?

lol...just bustin' chops...we've been talking about them, and their incompetence long-range, for years now. No biggie!

No prob. -I just look in on the weather threads every now and again and I didn't catch the posts about the Weather Channel. (Though I'm with 'ya on the fact that they aren't exactly the last word in weather accuracy a lot of times...lol.) [thumb2]

Only pattern I see is that the third time is a charm. Carroo will be back. Retting's catching up on the playbook, so McDaniels will be more comfortable w/Laviano running more often. The D secondary has been showing progress. The O line is ready to have a good game.

We're going to win and we have you to thank for it. :D

This afternoon's packages looking pretty good - both the Philly and NYC offices have any showers being over by mid-morning and dry conditions for the tailgates and game. Less chance for this to change significantly as we're only 4 days away, but let's see what tomorrow's model cycle says, to be sure. Almost a lock, but not quite yet...

Looks like a lock now for dry conditions from early afternoon onward, Saturday, as any showers should be over by very early Saturday (6 am) and I think we can give a 6-8 hour buffer on those showers arriving later than forecast (i.e., being over by 1-2 pm in the worst case), given that we're only 3 days out now. Saturday afternoon should be partly sunny and a few degrees cooler than normal with highs in the low/mid-60s (68F is normal) and it could be a little breezy in the morning into the early afternoon (10-15 mph winds). Temps will drop into and through the 50s during the game and could even reach the upper 40s by midnight.

I do have to mention that there is still a very slight chance (~10% or less) of a very brief shower during the afternoon/evening, but any stray shower that hits would be nuisance level (0.01" level) and it's far, far more likely that the tailgates/game will be dry. Enjoy the game. Here's the discussion from the NWS in NYC, which covers areas as close as Union County/Staten Island:

THE ECMWF HAS STAYED AWAY FROM ITS PREVIOUS IDEA OF A WAVE
DEVELOPING ALONG THE FRONT OVER THE WEEKEND...AND THE 00Z CMC HAS
SPEED UP ITS TIMING OF THE FRONT SIMILAR TO THE ECMWF/GFS/NAM...SO
HAVE GONE WITH A DRY FORECAST THROUGH THE WEEKEND AS WEAK NORTHERN
STREAM RIDGING GRADUALLY BUILDS IN BY SUNDAY/SUNDAY NIGHT.

I've seen enough - lock it up for dry conditions after about 8 am and definitely dry after about noon. Nobody is mentioning shower chances after early Saturday morning anymore (and even those showers before 8 am should be very light and scattered). Temps in the low/mid-60s during the afternoon with some sunshine and temps cooling off quickly during the game - could reach the upper 40s by the 4Q. Sounds like perfect football weather to me.

Really looking forward to the tailgate and game - Awesome time ahead!

NWS forecast is for partly sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday, while Saturday night is clear and cool. Seems as if it's a mortal lock for good weather.

Patrick, you're jinx is officially broken! [cheers]

No change, really. Weather looking great from after dawn on Saturday throughout the day and evening. Any lingering showers should be over by about 6 am (and any showers up until then would be very light, anyway) and we should have partly to mostly sunny skies with high temps in the low/mid-60s. Could be a little breezy up through the early afternoon, but winds should subside by mid/late afternoon. Temps will fall into and through the 50s during the game, bottoming out in the upper 40s after midnight (could be some frost in the far N/W valleys). Enjoy - wish I could be there.

SATURDAY...A WAVE DEVELOPING ALONG THE FRONT WELL TO OUR SOUTH MAY
LEAD TO LINGERING CLOUDINESS OVER DELMARVA EARLY, BUT OTHERWISE A
MOSTLY SUNNY DAY IS EXPECTED. AFTER A BREEZY START, WINDS VEER TO
THE NORTH AND GRADUALLY SUBSIDE.

As of now, it's looking like a front will come through late Friday or early Saturday, possibly accompanied by some showers, but hopefully those showers are over with by early afternoon, leaving tailgates (or at least the game) dry. Too early to know for sure, though, especially since 7-8 days out the timing of the front could easily be off by 12-24 hours. Temps look to be seasonable: typical highs/lows are 68/45 on 10/10. Even though I know we're down, it still sucks that I'm going to miss this game (35 year HS reunion - which I'm DJ-ing).

Grosse Pointe Blank
Great film, amazing soundtrack. I have two songs from that one on the reunion playlist ("Message to You, Rudy," by the Specials and "Go" by Tones on Tail). Lots of big pop hits from the 60s and 70s, too, as you might expect, since it's class of 1980. I DJ-ed our 30th and am following a pretty similar approach with about half the songs being from 1980 or earlier (60s/70s really) and half being since then (80s/90s/00s/10s). Tough to whittle it down to ~80 songs that most people will like - can't go too obscure ("Go" might be the most obscure tune I'm playing, actually), but I also don't want it to be entirely huge hits. Will post the playlist when I'm done...

At least there won't be any assassins to ruin the event. You got that going for you. Have a great time!

It's supposed to drop to 47 by game's end. It's no South Florida,2013,but a little jolt from the recent weather.Boy,do I miss the Audi Club now.Too bad my friend couldn't win the TD Club raffle every year.
