We have Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern left. It's fair to say we need to win all three. We're now 6-7 in conference. Even though our RPI is 20 it won't mean a darn thing to the NCAA committee if we lose one or two of these games. In our last 7 games we're 1-6. The committee doesn't just want to see an overall record, they want to see trends. They want to see how well you do against your peers as well as how you handled pressure games down the stretch. Right now we're not doing so well. We never should have lost to Penn State, Nebraska or Indiana, but it is what it is. It's no shame to get swept by Maryland. They're a legit top 10 team. But of course it doesn't help when you commit 22 turnovers and shoot 1-12 from the 3 point line. But that argument is for another thread.
It's always common whether for the men or women that if you lose a bad game, but do it in the early part of the season, it doesn't hurt as much when the committee looks at the totality of your record. Right now we're 18-9 but not too long ago we were 17-3. We need to finish strong. If we can beat Iowa (very good win) and close out Wisconsin and Northwestern, I think it's fair to say we should be in the NCAA tournament. My concern is even if we take 2 out of 3 we may not get in at 20-10 especially if the one loss is to Iowa. We have to beat the Hawkeyes.
