Yeah, I know we're all tired of moral victories, but c'mon, playing a top 5 team on the road after a bad loss, letting them go up 9-0 and then holy shit, did we play tough after that. Relentless, relentless, relentless defense and hustle. Did I say relentless. Nothing came easy for MSU. If not for the foul disparity (26-19 in fouls before we started fouling at the end - 29-19 overall) and losing friggin' 4 guys to DQ on fouls, we maybe win this game.

Corey (22/6/4 and only 1 TO), Omoruyi (6/4 and stifling defense), and Freeman (15 points) were unbelievable tonight. Warriors, especially Freeman, who was playing with the flu. And Williams with 9/8 off the bench - 8 boards for a guard in less than 20 minutes? Geo had an off-game, but he still played hard, while Thiam had 8/3 and played some great D also. And the bigs were at least not destroyed inside - Doucoure didn't do much but Shaq had a nice 4/7 and Sa had 4 boards and that amazing trey at the end.

If only Corey hit that last shot - still think he should've driven to the basket in hopes of making a circus shot of getting a foul, although for some reason he rarely draws fouls even when clearly fouled. But what an effort. Proud of this team and Pike is really building something, starting with an incredible foundation, just like Schiano did - defense and hustle go a long way and once he gets some more talent in here, watch out.

And @FrankZ with the funniest post of the night in the OT, after our 4th player fouled out: "We may have to put BK in."

Games like this should get folks comfortable that Pike will get this done once we get some better players.

I agree.

We are 2 weapons(lights out shooters) away from being a really dangerous team.

Coach P is getting a LOT out of our players
Heck, if we even had someone of Coreys stature we would have 5 more wins IMO

This. One of my buddies (who incessantly whines) refuses to see the difference here and what Pikes is doing/building. When I said "imagine the team out on the court with a couple of shooters" he just said "same old Rutgers." I....can't....wait....to shut him up lol!

Just punch him in the face and call it even.

Congrats to the team. Havent followed greatly due to finances (former pseudo Court Club Exec many years ago) but Pikiell is really building this program even before he has recruited many 4 star players. More and more fans should be coming to the RAC.

Hopefully tonight will be considered a "good loss" by a postseason NIT/NCAA committee!

AreYouNuts, My brother in law is exactly the same way. He claims he is a fan but it the most critical guy I ever met. He dislikes Pikiell and constantly talks about a 32-0 run against NW in Wash DC last March. There are some real fools out there.

People like that can’t see the forest for the trees. I’m generally a critical and skeptical fan. I knew pretty early on that Eddie Jordan wouldn’t get it done just based on the lack of fundamentals and effort on the court.

Those that are watching closely can see that it’s different with Pikiell

And the reply to these "friends" should be: "and same old dickhead response from you"

Great effort, from a team who played "in your face Defense," rebounded well, and got some points from unlikely sources. Cory made some very interesting shots, which was our only real threat last night. I want to see what Pikiell can do with some additional Div. I type players next year.
I do hope Corey stays his last year, but his role must change. If he continues to be the "go to guy," that is a coaching issue. And, I can understand why he would be that now. Defense, and breaking presses are his strong suit.
Again, great effort! Probably a win at home.

Sport fans who aren't invested in Rutgers by donations and or as season ticket holders probably will not accept progress shown in this game. Their viewpoint will not change until Rutgers starts having winning seasons and invitations to the NCAA Tournament.By the way that viewpoint also applies to football.

You are correct, but restating this over and over doesn't really add much to the conversation. Surely you can see the improvement under Pikiell and see that the future is brighter than it's been in awhile - and surely he can sell the obvious improvements in the team, facilities, and program even if we're not in the Tourney yet.

I have not seen a team this year play with more effort than the one last night. Sparty averages 87 points a game and we hold them to 59 in regulation. What this RU team lacks in offense they makeup with effort on the defensive end. If I told you we would score 59 point against Mich State what would your prediction be? MSU went 4 minutes without scoring! Think about that! Lockdown defense will keep you in every game. Better days are coming to the Banks! I agree RU will be a different team once we get some offensive talent to compliment the lockdown defense!

Who the heck is going to be the go to guy next year if not Sanders?

It HAS to be Sanders. There is no one else yet.

You are under the impression that he is a "go to guy," type of player. I don't. At least not as the only option, next year we will have a few additional players, and with a hopefully higher upside. "Go to guy" implies he makes the 15 footer with 6 seconds to go in the game, for the win. He missed.

Sanders is the go to guy because Pikes does not have any other offensive players to compliment him. With the addition of Kiss, Harper Jr & Montez along with Geo improving I believe offense will improve year over year with or without Corey. Defense & rebounding will always be the staple of Pikes coached team! It was that way at Stony Brook where they were alway the top of the conference in D & rebounding!

Michigan State's wins by an average of 28.8 points this season. We lost to them by a combined 14 points, per Aaron Breitman.

Our kids played their hearts out. Right now I don't care about more talented kids in the future. I love these kids that played last night and compete on the team this year. Nobody goes into East Lansing and comes out in 1 piece. As an example, Maryland went in and left losing by 30. Nobody has gone in and not lost by double digits. I for one am proud how our team played. They left it all on the court and yes a win would have been sweet, however, it's also about the process and the effort.
