What are people's opinion about BTN this year?

I watched the BTN live yesterday (or it might have been a replay) and when they covered the Rutgers v Iowa you would have never known we were the other team. All about Iowa and not a single word of note for Rutgers. Showed the Grant run and the CL pass almost like an after thought.

Nothing about the close calls, not even the fumble. Played a heck of a game against what they thought was perhaps the best team in West and not even a positive mention. Pretty disappointing.
(and yeah I know it is all about the two schools from Mich, OSU, and now the latest darlings again Wisky). But I was really expecting some fair share exposure or at least a 5 min recap.

Well, that's my opinion. Just not much worth watching unless a game on. Not much about the other teams. More like a PR show for the top schools vs. the league channel. How about you? You still actively watching that channel?

For me BTN and BTN2Go is for Big10 Wrestling. Tremendous coverage. Definitely worth the money for the subscription to watch all Rutgers and even all Conference matches.

There is enough College Football Coverage everywhere else, that I will only watch BTN for Rutgers away games that ESPN doesn't carry.

Still a million times better than the AAC Network. Oh wait.

Some on here think Rutgers should be the lead story on BTN. Stop the nonsense. Rutgers lost the game.

Iowa won. There's a chance Iowa could still be a contender in the west.
Rutgers lost. Rutgers could be a contender for worst team in the east.

Therefore there's more to talk about regarding Iowa than Rutgers. Want coverage and praise? Win. And keep winning.

Sorry to hear that Abro...you are definitely missing out.

A million times better than ESPN...especially for B1G games...

NO.. OP has a great point.

BTN should be serving every member with what they never get from ESPN and other media. HYPE us all. Look how great the Big Ten is top to bottom.. look how competitive! Never a day off in the Big ten.. bla blah blah.

The idea is to tell every viewer, including recruits.. that rvry team in the big Ten is worthy of consideration.

I will say that BTN2Go app is 1000x better than the PAC app ( a confusing mish-mosh of different regional networks and not on roku) and the steaming pile of horse coks that is FS1 (no on demand games and weird replay times at like 4 am - why even have an app?).

pretty simple...BTN will cover the schools that win and have large fanbases like OSU and Michigan and will avoid schools that generally lose and have small fanbases like Purdue and Rutgers

Watched FB & Beyond as well as BTN Live. Coverage was exactly what it should have been for that game IMHO. We lost, in an ugly, low-scoring game, with very few highlights. No issues here.

BTN doesn't carry games that ESPN carries and vice versa. As far as post game wrap up, it's not a big deal to me, as I usually watch every game 2 or 3 times in its' entirety.
I read almost every major article that covers the game as well as all the beat writers. I doubt I miss much.

If we had won the game the storyline would have been Rutgers surging just in time for a visit to the Shoe. But we couldn't pull it off so the story was a Purdue rebound after ND State.

We gotta win.

yeah, thanks. I was never expecting nor did I even come close to saying RU should have been the lead story, focus of the review, or ANYTHING like that. Poor extrapolations of my point. I said not 1 positive comment for a team showing improvement with a new coach from eh..Ohio State. With the OSU game coming up. At a minimum they could have shown the biggest play of the game..the fumble. But I expect that was too much potential negative exposure to the refs and outcome of the game.

I am simply saying I thought this was going to be a LEAGUE station that gave much more insight into all the teams players and performance. And not just RU. I would actually like to know more about the other teams you never see.

So FOR ME ,, not watching so much anymore as spending an hour to see the front runners over and over and possibly 5 mins on all the other teams just isn't what I expected. If most of the others are cool with that. OK by me. Just not what I expected.

Disagree. Thought that they talked about the winner a little more and Ray and R. Smith did talk about Rutgers. Overall, with them featuring higher signifcant games such as MSU-Wisconsin and Michigan-Penn State, they did not spend a lot of time on our game. They also spent almost no time on Indiana and Minnesota games either. Coverage is fair

pretty simple concept if ya'll forgot... win = make the highlight reels(BTN/ESPN/doesn't matter what) and the local papers

lose? = ignored for the most part

BTN is a propaganda machine for the conference. They will talk most about the teams that are playing at a high level and are nationally relevant. The mid-week coverage where they at least discuss other members is way better than alternatives, and the pre-season camp coverage is really good (particularly the bus tour stuff).

Not sure how anyone can be unhappy with coverage. Win more and they will be thrilled to discuss Rutgers more.

Good post.

What do you want them to do just crap on us for 15 minutes? BTN is one of those if there is nothing nice to say.... Trust me if we pull off an upset win, which at this point is any game for the rest of the schedule without Grant, they will talk about it.

Ray Lucas is on LIVE every week from Rutgers campus, BTW.

I think our coverage has been lackadaisical, but I guess we get what we deserve. They were really digging us pre-season in their camp visits. We haven't gotten there yet, but I think we're improving each week and will finish stronger than some might expect at this point. I'm just hoping everyone else has already peaked :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

On BTN TV, it does seem like they are focusing a little more this year on the Top 25 teams in the B1G, but unlike ESPN you will never hear DiNardo, Griffin, etc insult the bottom half of the conference as "cupcakes". They still do a good job of showing the bright side of the have-not teams, yet if a team has an issue (Northwestern's slow start), they will call it out. The writer side of BTN on Facebook has been more frank (buy/sell, weekly grades).

For me the benchmark of disparaging Rutgers coverage is Pat Forde. We get a mention from him every week in his columns, but hasn't said anything about us when on BTN. I think he hates us so much that he has come to love us.

Pat Forde is not a fan of the Big Ten in general, they have him on as a counter point. But he mostly behaves himself on the BTN.

But he never fails to take a "dumpster fire" shot at Rutgers in his columns.

As to the OP, when I watched the Final Drive over the weekend, Stanley Jackson, Howard Griffith and the host's analyses of the Iowa game was one of WTF was Iowa doing letting Rutgers keep it close? There was no mention of Rutgers defense holding them to 14 points, stuffing them at the goal line, or anything that would reflect positively on Rutgers. Yeah we lost, and not looking for a moral victory trophy, but they almost seemed apologetic for Iowa for letting lowly Rutgers hang with them.

Pat Forde is a Louisville and Mizzou homer. I avoid listening to him or reading his garbage

I disagree. If we want attention, we need to do something other than lose or beat crappy teams. Hype can't fix the problem and will only result in a loss of credibility for the network.
