What Ever Happened to Th3 Hype?

Dave Rice, Pat Skerry, King Rice, Andy Toole, Orlando Antingua
Andy Toole not doing to well at Robert Morris this season after looking good when he took over for Mike Rice. A gamble, but might just be a good choice

Dave Rice was let go by UNLV during this season after going 9-7 and 18-15 last season.
Took the Running Rebels to the dance his first two years then in third won 20 but didn't make the cut. Probably help RU move towards respectability, but not sure if he'd be a good fit .

Skerry's resume doesn't make him look to good and wonder why you think he'd be a good choice?

King Rice, might be a good choice but he might be opposed by some in the administration because of personal issues .

Orlando Antingua not looking good at the USF and if he don't look good building that program, he'll be opposed ( based on W-L ) if RU considered hiring him .

Skerry can coach and can recruit the east coast well.

Antigua is just in a bad spot. Put him in the B1G, he's respectability will return.

Andy Toole is Brad Stevens lite. Very intelligent Xs and Os go, just having a rough year. Rebuilding. He should've left when his stock was higher.

King Rice can coach his ass off. Plain and simple.

Dave Rice is also a great recruiter and Xs and Os guy. UNLV wants a chip, RU just needs to establish respectability again.

Darren Savino. Book Richardson. Chris Caputo.

Three assistants I might get behind as potential HCs. Not saying any would work out here but just throwing their names out there.

Recruiting in NJ/NYC/PA is so damn competitive that in most cases Rutgers is behind every other program.

Definitely respected the opinions.
Didn't care for the over-sensitive style when questioned.
Miss your value added.
Glad to see you make some comments. 1000% more connected than me.
Please don't be a stranger.

Pat Skerry would be a great choice but he, like anyone, would need TIME to build the program to respectability. There isn't a single coach in the country at any level that can bring Rutgers to a winning season in less than 5 years.

Since you guys are throwing names out there how about Patrick Ewing? Not sure how everyone will feel about another NBA Coach/Assistant coming to College to coach?? Or bringing Jim Calhoun out of retirement taking over the program for a couple of years getting RU to respectable standards and then bring in a decent named coach??

Or Michael Jordan! How about Kobe now that he is retiring? A re-animated Red Auerbach?

The former coach of the Washington Generals would have been a good choice if he hadn't departed. His teams were fundamentally sound, were in most games and they even had a couple of major upsets of a vastly superior team. lol

I could not see myself becoming a wall flower. Now, we have all taken on our internet identities, and some of us have even met in person.

If I was to ever just read, I feel like I would just stop logging on to the site in general. Just me though.

I would never think coaches or players would actually read what a bunch of people write on here.

Wrong!

"It was an old CIA thing," he explained in a recent interview. "I never went on it in true name."

Gates, who served in the foreign intelligence service for nearly two decades before becoming director in 1991, understood the first rule of information gathering: Go where the information is. And in 2002, in his new role as president of Texas A&M, that meant spying on a popular message board devoted primarily to discussing college football.

"I got on TexAgs because that's where the most fervent Aggie fans live," Gates said. "It was a way to see how they were reacting to changes we were making in the athletic program. It was a way to gain insight into how the sort of hardest core Aggies felt."

Rice asked me point blank who Hype was at one point...they didn't even know.

I had brief conversations with him back in the day, and we were supposed to meet down in DC at one point, but it never happened.

Although I don't know for sure, I would bet good money his source was David Cox.

Hype was a spark plug sort of poster...he definitely knows basketball, and definitely had his opinions. Problem with that is, when you are wrong on recruiting...you take a ton of heat for it. Trust me I know.

I never had anything against the guy...and would welcome him back to this forum with open arms if he chooses to do so.

BK - don’t worry, we all forgot about the Lance Thomas saga... almost

I'll disagree with Th3Hype at times, but always feel his info and opinion is worthwhile.
Feel Th3Hype's hibernation is more of a minus fotthis board than anything else.

Lost some excellent posters over the years.....LFBall, LCP, many others have dropped out.

If Eddie comes back to continue working on his "masterpiece" the good news is we will not lose many season ticket holders.....the only ones left are part of the "woodwork".
LCP - one of the classiest posters on this board!

Hype, before you go back into hibernation.. which I think your terms have been absolutely hilarious lol. Any insight on Hyatt? I won't react either way if you are right or wrong?? Thanks

Hold on a sec...

He said NOTHING for two years, then posts in the middle of July that he loves our coach? OK what happened today that made you have the need to post?

FYI not criticism, I am jealous as hell that you had inside info. I would have screamed every day the inside info I had.

BTW - I met Mr TV once by chance. He asked if I knew who he was by his handel. I thought he would be taller - lol. He certainly was a self promoter.

Did anyone else start reading at the beginning and wonder why hype wouldn’t like what was going on in the program NOW? I got this sick pit in my stomach! Duh

Lol I just said that to my girlfriend! I was like why didn’t they like the team this year?! Was so concerned that I started to pay more attention and then saw the date.....

Gotcha, I didn't see the date stamp. It makes complete sense now.

No one was happy with that hot mess, well, except for one guy.
