This program hasn't had a good defense since Robb Smith left. And it should be pointed out that the secondary wasn't exactly the Legion of Boom before this rash of arrests. .
How many sacks and QB pressures do you think Hamilton has in three years? He's a great player, but he does not get to the QB
WSU's offense plays to our defensive weakness. We are stellar at stopping the run and horrible at stopping a good passing attack.
Hamilton usually gets double covered. He is a damn good player. I hope he plays in the Penn State game.
Stop with the arrests. Rossi's base cover 2 rush 4 has cost us time after time. Did we all forget how soft his scheme was for the last series with Sackenberg beating us last yesr on a late TD? We lead the NCAA in not getting off the field from 3rd and long. Thats on the scheme, not the personel. Rossi wouldnt be qualified to coach my pop warner team defense
Was at the game and can't recall if the defense ran any nickel packages? Base 4-3 against this offense sets the LBs up for failure in zone coverage.
yeah in this game i think he'd of been the difference..maybe not so much against the Nits or some others though...i agree...our dreams of any kind of special season are over even if we beat the Nits and UM...unless we shock an OSU and some how get 8 W's....not happening here this year.
I'm not a big fan of the scheme either especially when it doesn't work against a team. It seems to be designed to wait for their offense to make a mistake but their QB ain't gonna make many mistakes when he has all day in the pocket.
Yup. 4 against 5 is a hard assignment. If we had Lawrence Taylor I think it would work.
Even with Schiano, we got the pressure on the QB by rushing the defensive back or LB. Maybe we are saving it for the Penn State game to surprise them. That's how Temple put the pressure on them.

Yeah but losing to Wazzou will even take the luster off of a win there down the line...We gotta beat the lower tier P5s on our OOC schedule for any respect..
I give our defense credit for not allowing WSU to convert any of their 4th downs. What a heart breaker of a game.
Everybody knew this was a terrible matchup for the RU D with 3 freshman DBs and no depth against a spread, Airraid offense. We had LBs playing WRs and WRs running free in the secondary. Our D line was disappointing, but from my vantage point at the game, they were getting held like crazy. But, this loss is unquestionably on the Offense. WSU's defense is not good. Our O turned the ball over 3 times, which led to WSU scores and we only scored 20 points on offense. That's really bad. Pretty much everyone thought the O had to score 40 or more to win this one.
We'll see what this team is really made of at PSU.
We should of scored at least 24 points in the 1st half....i knew against this type of team you need to jump on them early and often. Then mistakes happen out of desperation.
Well until the drive that decided the game. When the receiver just ran untouched and alone to an open spot in a zone, turned and said hey, throw me the ball.
66 passes for them and not one holding penalty. Drove me nuts and other people around me too.
