...coach Ash and staff had a shot at last year's recruiting. Truly wonder is rashan Gary and company would have taken Rutgers more serious.

That aside, I am beyond thrilled with the job the current staff is doing. It's clear that momentum in jersey is snowballing right now. Keep it up!

No, they were all followers. What we have here this year are leaders and trail blazers. We're getting kids that want to start something on their own and are not content just to be a cog in the machine. Ash and company are identifying those leaders and getting them to commit.

Last years class was a lot better and a larger majority of the players were being nationally recruited earlier on in the process then this years class. Just saying. Keep it up coach.

So, what you are saying is, if given one more year, Flood would have killed it this year in recruiting with Hobbs on board? :flush:

I'm saying you cant say ash would've closed last class like he did this one. That's all.

I didn't, they are already national recruits. Check their offers.

Guys like JG and Gary etc were national recruits as freshman/soph not soph/JR. I know Clark and to a lesser extent belton are national recruits.

As for hindsight, it's kind of pointless, but on principle, any tier recruit is gettable once you have established that you will give them a maximum investment in their career and lives. Ash seems to be excellent at communicating this, and knowing the little things, like making good nutrition available late at night. Obviously, this level of investment on the university's part has only recently become seen as a priority. Schiano did what he could, and it improved things greatly. I'm sure Flood did his best, but the off field situations left few people willing to invest this way.

Barchi and Hobbs seem to understand that the football program has two long term objectives - please pay for yourself and never embarrass the university.

I think the partridge connection at um was still too much to overcome .
The Patridge connection is way way.... overrated, what sold the 2016 NJ prospects was the name Michigan and Harbaugh with a lot of help from an incompetent high school math teacher sitting on the Rutgers helm, before Harbaugh's arrival it was Penn St and Franklin cleaning our clock, Campanile or anyone with a pulse in NJ would have achieved similar results under the same circumstances at Michigan. Harbaugh and Michigan will still get some kids out of NJ no doubt but things are changing because there is a new sheriff in town.

It also helps to have multiple coaches who had experience with and exposure to how the best in the business run a championship program.

Barchi and Hobbs undoubtedly have higher standards. Pay for more than yourself and end the subsidy, and be a model of how a power 5 program can have both success on and off the field. And they found the man to do this.

Why are some of you arguing over what Ash would have done with this years class vs what Flood would have done with next years class? Who cares? What is important is A) that Flood doesn't have the opportunity to work on next years class and B) Ash does and he and his staff are thus far doing one he'll of a job at it. Let's look forward, the past can't change.

what if..........

just stop

the new world order of Rutgers football started on 12/7/15. Whatever happened before that date is history and out of our control.

December 7,, 1941....the day which will live in infamy.

December 7, 2015...the day which will live in Rutgers infamy.

We will never know..but...
JG's dad was anti RU not JG. Was it the job? Was it Flood? Was it the big name and bright lights?
Walker needed to leave NJ. Many(not all) of his closest advisors wanted him out of NJ.
Gary was a commodity being shopped around. He was never RU bound. All facade.
Based on early returns Ash and Company would have delivered way more talent but don't think the dream team"core" was happening.

Of course he would have done better. Don't you think kids can tell a real coaching staff with a future from a 1-AA level staff on the hot seat.
