What's Wrong With NJ HS Football?

Down year the one year we recruit Jersey well... really makes you wonder

Our big Parochials opened with tough national schedules, by the end of the year expect St Joes Montvale to be a top15, PC lost Drew Singleton for the yeat to injury , BC lost their starting QB Langan to injury. Bosco lost a week of practice right before their season started due to a contagious illness before their first OOC tough game.

Wait til the season ends before making rash statements.

Seriously? Their national rankings still are what they are, right? It's not like all three services are just going to give New Jersey kids higher rankings to meet a quota or something. They're gonna rank them for what they are on the national level. You don't see States with weak football, like a Massachusetts or Connecticut, getting a ton of four and five star kids just because, right?

Any more excuses? Competing against tough nationals is the best measuring stick when comparing best programs. NJ parochial schools have been no strangers to the MaxPrep elites.

Actually it looks like BC and SPP have fared pretty well against OOS competition so far this year. They just aren't ranked high. Bosco is 0-2, worst start in like forever and SJM is 1-1. None of the publics rate nationally.

Bosco 0 and 2 against out of state talent. The individual talent is there around the state.
Team Talent? Not so much.

The hate on this board is ridiculous for the North Jersey parochials. They have played tough schedules. If Rutgers is ever as good as them, are we going to get the same hate from our state? Looks like it. This is why our karma sucks.

Getting way tougher to compete these days...just as Bergen, Bosco, and others recruit from ALL over so are all the other programs in the country
Basically like college

Sometimes its a question of balance. Bosco lost 3 div 1 senior linemen coming into this year and cannot replace them. Defensive line is small . Tough to match up with national top 20 teams. You will not be able to do that every single year anymore. There is just too much competition for players that did not exist before

Its not that these teams are far away but they are all missing something. St Joes could use a better qb and a top running back . Bosco needs more size and a top running back, But in general each team is lacking something that hasnt , this year, to allow them to get past good, close game, but no cigar

Very true. Schools like Bishop Gorman and IMG are in a different place altogether. Gorman's facilities are incredible . The Fertitta family, which owns the UFC and Station Casinos in Vegas, underwrites the program. Their beautiful football stadium was built, funded by and named after the Fertittas. They are the Phiil Knight of high school football. To boot, they recruit regionally and cherry pick from talent rich SoCal. They play against the best competition in SoCal, Texas and Florida. Today they host a team from Hawaii. Everybody loves to come to Vegas , but generally leave a loser- like the rest of the people visiting the desert.

There are more high schools getting into the football race and it's spreading the talent even more.
