Where does this rank?

NOT EVEN CLOSE to a WV or Louisville.

I get this raw right now...but this game may not even have impacted what bowl we attend....if we lose to MSU, they will get Detroit with 6 wins.

We wanted to go to a non Detroit, non Pinstripe bowl right?

I think the goal was 7 wins....for those who said 8...we're going to compare that to missing a BCS bowl? Really?

People were saying playoff in September...in October it was we're a 4 win max team...in November, lose a close game to a good team after becoming bowl eligible...and it's full on tilt

Kinda reminds me how we blew it vs Maryland last year and then dominated Miami and it went from meltdown to sunshine. Should be interesting in the next month plus

as a game going down to the wire...this is about as bad as it gets. Having basically comeback to win, a 60 minute chop, praising AK, gutting it out despite a horrific defense that stepped up the last drive

I can accept getting beat on a 58 yard fg and tip your cap, the way today happened was devestatating.

a missed opportunity for a huge impact win and a chance for a very good bowl, now RU relegated into the shitty detroit bowl and same old Schiano cannot get it done in the big spots

Louisville 2012
yep..a qb we couldnt get to and they continually made big plays that our D couldnt stop...except Teddy only had one leg

really I know our fanbase doesnt think Illinois is a sexy name but this was the biggest single meaningful game for the program given the late season stakes since Louisville 2012

Yes totally, they're going to pick 6-6 RU for Detroit (bc no way we win next week, right) over 6-6 MSU for Detroit.

Why not just say we won't make any bowl? Just make things up to fuel the rage.

I agree the impact of this loss isn’t severe, but it is the #1 loss due to monumental stupidity that Shelby has ever witnessed.

#2 was the decision to go first in overtime at Illinois after winning the toss in the Leonard Leap 85 yard TD run game at Illinois ( Shelby thinks 2006 but not sure of exact year).

2005. 2006 should have been immediately nonsensical to any diehard.

It’s not as meaningful as the Louisville loss in 2012, which if we would have won would have played UF in the Sugar Bowl. However, I think this is the worst loss since then. Besides how the game was lost which was terrible, several streaks continue, not beating a ranked team for the 40th straight game (terrible) and now not being able to have a winning record in the B1G schedule. Very upsetting. A bad loss.

I think that was 2005 if I remember correctly.

Michigan State at 6-6 will go Pinstripe or a better bowl because they simply have a better travelling fanbase, why waste them in Detroit

perfect opportunity for 6-6 RU to go to Detroit.

Trying to snatch some positivity out of all of this negativity.

What were the greatest wins? Too soon?

Louisville
Michigan
?

washington

today would have been top 3, that Washington is 3rd really speaks to how bad our program has been in the Big 10

beat usf when they were a phony #2 doesnt mean that much

As bad as it gets !

The venom - and rightfully so- skewed towards Schiano was intense leaving the stadium.

To lose a game like that when the team played their hearts out and left everything on the field is shattering

A Pop Warner coach would have won that game in last few seconds !

I feel terrible for the team - especially Athan and Kyle - that they lost this game because of coaching malfeasance by Schiano once again!

what a fine line...let that fg go and we are partying tonight, a shot at going to Florida and finishin 8-4 and praising this team for chopping the win and absolute praise on AK for the comeback

instead we are full of bile and venom and negativity and YET another missed opportunity for GS to move the program forward...a pattern in the past but one we have already seen this season

in the end winning matters

WV snow-game, don’t recall the year.

And when we played… Washington, was it? Super late game, ended around 2:30 or 3am.

Watched it with @RU848789 at the olive branch. That one was a painful loss.

Fresno St. I believe. First game under Flood. Janarian Grant returned the first KO to Rutgers to the house.

Late game or 2nd half blunders..VWU snow bowl but that was on operations.
Gut punches for just losing when the pins were set up..@VWU 06, @Cincy06, @Uconn for BEast title.

Illinois is top 25 and RU isn't so Illinois winning isn't a shocker like UNH
Cincy was worse loss since RU was good and just got lost between the ears the week after Louisville
Today was a bad ending but the game was sketchy before the ending (allowing 250 yds passing on 12 throws, AKs fumble etc).

Best team won even if not by much

As far as home games:

Louisville 2012 (most at stake)
Penn State 2014
Cincinnati 2007 (Mike Teel interception on would be game winning drive)
Eastern Michigan 2017 (embarrassment and disappointment)
Illinois 2024 (most absurd way to lose a game)
