Where does this rank?

Yeah getting obliterated by Bama wouldn't be fun even with an invite to a high end bowl game.

Outside of Detroit, the other matchups would still be pretty exciting and be a motivation. One thing you have to give GS is the team will be highly prepared, but Alabama is a whole other level and a major talent gap.

I'd be confident we'd win any bowl game we'd draw outside of Bama. We would put up a solid fight but the talent delta is far too great to overcome.

Assuming the opponent is going to be a pissed off Alabama as some have speculated, I don't think it's a big loss and definitely not on the level of missing a BCS bowl, or close to that
Are they as pissed off as you were 3 weeks ago?????

yep..a qb we couldnt get to and they continually made big plays that our D couldnt stop...except Teddy only had one leg

really I know our fanbase doesnt think Illinois is a sexy name but this was the biggest single meaningful game for the program given the late season stakes since Louisville 2012
What stakes? This game meant nothing other than pride.

Not even remotely close.

Losing to Louisville in 2012 when we controlled much of the game cost us a Big East Championship and Sugar Bowl bid against a beatable Florida.
This is the one. Add in an injured and immobile Teddy Bridgewater leading a comeback and a TD on a fake punt called back for a questionable illegal man downfield penalty.

We lost to Wash.St in 2015 on a few seconds to go pass into the end zone from Luke Falk to River Cracraft.
Yeah I can't compare this game to our biggest wins or worst losses though it sucked the life out of me for a while.

I can only compare this ending to similar endings and I would rank as follows:

1. Tim Brown TD against U Conn by far the craziest end of game huge play and we won

2. I forget what happened but yeah Saturday sucked a$$

3. 1992 Brantley TD against Va Tech was phenomenal. The overall comeback was epic but for last plays alone this could even be #2

4. The WSU game you mentioned above did not feel too good. Cracraft helped us win a close one the year before or after

Any others? Not just great comebacks but end of game back breakers for us or the others guys?

Not saying it is I just would much prefer a warm destination rather than another Detroit/yankees stadium bowl. Couple in a trip over to Disney and Harry Potter world for my wife woulda been an awesome winter trip

The odds seem good now that it won't be Detroit and would be Phoenix, Charlotte o or Boca.
