Things could change after the combine but some early thoughts

Powell might be held back by injury history but pound for pound he has huge talent. Hopefully he is fully revovered for the combine at which he will will shine

Monangi is one of the best backs out there. The league has been devalue RBs of late if that were not te case I.d seem him going very early

Longerbean and Pierce have generated a lot of buzz at their all star game which has them as better known entités. Like longerbeans chances a lot

As I recall Riggs was pretty much dead nuts accurate this year on snaps but a great LS will likely be q FA signing

As far as the 5 guys at the combine I think Powell will single himself out at the combine and might go earliest

If Powell is 100% he has the measurables of an elite LB.
Pierce will most likely be late round. I do think Longerbeam could find himself in the 4-6 round area

All fair opinions. I don't know where KM will go but he has to be drafted after what he has shown.

The main takeaway for me is how nice is it to have theae conversations once again?

Disagree that teams are devaluing running backs. Running backs carried many teams this year and are becoming more valuable again. Offensively a big change this year.
With that said agree Longerbeam might go first.

Players are sometimes better not being drafted after the 4th or 5th round. They get to choose the team that fits their strengths to help them become successful. If they believe in themselves they can take short contracts and become a free agent early. Pacheco is a prime example. Making little money on a 5 year contract.

Pierce is likely a 4th round pick with a good combine.
Monangai is likely a 5th round pick.
Powell needs an elite combine to be more than a late pick. Even then he's not going in the 3rd round.
Longerbeam is also a late round pick but could slip out of the draft due to being very light.
Hamilton is my sleeper on sliding in as a late round pick with the versatility he showed this year.

I would be very surprised if the five guys invited to the combine didn’t get drafted somewhere. Considering positional value I would expect either Longerbeam or Pierce to go off the board first.

I don't see any of them going in the 1st 4 rounds right now. If anyone does, it's Kyle but even he isn't on any top RB lists I've seen. Powell will need to prove he's healthy. Pierce could be a wild card.

I have seen Pierce mocked as early as 3rd round. With the value of the position he plays, and his size, he is the most likely to be taken early if he shows scouts at the combine he can move.

I hope he does as it would do the program well to have a walkon OL get drafted in early rounds. My take on him is that he most likely goes in the 5th or later rounds. I see him as an NFL project. He has the size, has transformed himself and became a very good B1G OT. I just didn't see as much of the nastiness and dominance that early round OT often have.
I didn't mention KM myself on where I think he may go- it is so hard to tell with a RB. I love him and his style of play. He is going to remind a lot of team of IP. But, RB is not a premium and 3 years into a huge first 2 years for IP, even he is getting a bit forgotten in KC.

I think maybe Philly's success with Barkley and running the ball may have some teams looking to copy. These things come in waves and right now almost every team is based on passing the ball so defenses are organized around stopping the pass. So an offense around controlling the game running the ball may do well if they run it well. Harbaugh at the Chargers got the job intending to be a running team in the AFC West.

So based on the possibility of a new RB/OL trend I'll go with Monangai then Pierce. Of course, most of the league still needs to stop the pass and Longerbeam will get drafted.

As OP said, the combine will decide it all.

It’s going to come down to things like his foot movement, “bend”, etc. as judged at the combine.

With his size, if he has the physical tools (even if he has’t been using them efficiently yet) there will be teams that fall in love with his upside.

I see it as follows:

If Powell shows out at combine, he’s a legit top 90 pick.

Pierce by 4th round. Legit size and lots of solid film against solid comp. When does a walk-on OL who starts 3+ yrs for a BIG program with solid archive of film go from “project” to the “real deal”?

Monangai 4th or 5th. If he had home run speed, he’s a 2d rounder.

Longerbeam goes late round by 6th or 7th.

Kudos to these guys who put themselves in the position to be drafted and the RU program for helping them fulfill their dreams.
